Porsche upgrades the 911 Turbo to take on the GT-R

Porsche has of course taken notice of 7'29'' () by some other manufactorer and is charging up their beloved Turbo a litte - it says here:
Porsche 911 Turbo models next in line for upgrades | Spy shots | Carcentral.com.au

"The facelifted 911 Turbo range is expected to get an extra 15kW (500 HP total) to give it an edge over the new Nissan GT-R and return it to supremacy at the Nurburgring’s Nordschleife, or Northern Loop".

Well based on recent Turbo vs. GT-R tests the 911 Turbo has always ended up beeing regarded as "outdated" by exhibiting nervous and demanding driving behaviour. It simply cannnot keep up with the GT-R at high speed. Even the last famous C&D test says so.
So, Porsche must more than just increase the power output and double clutch gearbox. It will indeed help but will it be enough?

Spec-V??

Won't be enough.

Rear engined, rear wheel drive will always be at a slight disavantage against a good well sorted 4WD setup, like the GTR.

Yes I know it's not permant 4WD but that's the beauty, it's well balanced when the CPU's do their tricks.

The Turbo is 4WD. I think they will post a good time with the changes probably around 7.35 but doubt them beating the GT-R, or even for the sake of giving it respect, by trying to.

My mistake, so it is

Some reason I was thinking of the GT3

Don't get me wrong though, the 911 Turbo is an awesome car and I'd own one if I won the Lotto!

Although it's tricky, I'd never underestimate Porsche. They can always pull a trick and raise the limit with a little workover.

It's still more of a cruiser though, as weird as that may sound, so I'd be surprised to see it be less lethargic than a GT3.
