Question D1 GP Rd. 4, Okayama International Circuit

Just testing the water.

Happened to drop in to watch this today (Sunday June 28) and took a bunch of shots of this, that and the other. Anyone else there?

OIC have been a bit sniffy, not allowing drifting on their circuit. Chews up the surface, or something. Today was the first time they have ever opened their gates to it, and as Round 4 of the D1 Grand Prix went swimmingly (heavy rain all day, pmsl) it looks like they may want to be included on the calendar again next year.

Is anyone interested in seeing some pics? Not really directly GTR related except for a couple of shots. Your enthusiasm will determine whether I can be bothered to upload to the pc, download to an album site, and upload again to here...

The only FD I got was the rather good-looking Amemiya TransAmerica display car, brown at the front, yellow behind.

Missed it, Russ. Must have sounded great.

I did buy an FD3S Police Patrol Car by Takara Tomy, though! (Plastic wind-deflector on the bonnet)

Just saw this thread, I would love to see some pics if you do not mind Piers.
What is with that green flooring? Looks, um, different.

The whole display lot was covered in this plastic green stuff you see on garage floors, but it was mirror-like in the wet and gave a weird new angle and color/colour to the shot. Quite a few of the drift cars had fluorescent yellow or orange wheels which I am ashamed to say I rather liked.

Watch this space for some more piccies, then. (I still do the loading one by one)
Meantime here is a thread to suck on...

Lots of Toyo fans here, so a piccie of their booth:

Team owner Tsukano san is a good friend of mine. This is their first car. He said he was knackered by the changing weather conditions and the fact that they blew the engine. He tried to sell me his Porsche 996 ... maybe needed money for the return journey.

Bought two of these towels, but at 1890 JPY each!!!???

Never realized how tiny F1 wheels are!

But when viewed from the side, Holy Cow...

He said they are 18,500,000 JPY new

But I could have it for 7,500,000... about the price of a new GTR. Black on the upper surfaces of the rear wing and roof.

If you like stickers

And butterfly fluorescence

Hard to get a shot of Ueno's Soarer as they were spraying the sand and gravel off it, but they stepped aside for me, LOL

Did you know they call Flipflop paint "Majiora" (pronounced Ma-joora) here?

For Russ

Pity about the weather

Can you figure out what this rather understated VIP car is? Got several shots of it.
