BMW M1 Hommage - triple turbo??

I saw a blurb on the car but unfortunately it was in Korean. Thought someone here might knows as I think it was translated from the UK automotive press. It seemed to say that a guess if/when the next M1 is made, it'll cost £95,000, run a 3.0 liter straight six with, 3 (??) turbochargers, making 450bhp.

Three turbos, a bit odd. Funny how, with the JDM mindset, a 3 liter straight six + turbos = 800bhp. Granted, our engines don't last 100,000miles. But still, I'd have thought the next M1 would be a fire-breathing monster.

I always liked the original M1, let's hope to new one isn't too far off. Although I thought I read somewhere it was just a concept car and not going in production...ever

I heard it was going to be twin turbo. I just can't imagine 3 turbines side by side. Maybe they should just go sequential as in Rx-7 if they want smooth power delivery.

Most of what you read was probably speculation; A 3.0 liter turbo tri turbo six powered M1 sounds like a recipe for a very heavy, very laggy and very underpowered supercar. I.E a supercar that's not so super. BMW neither wants nor needs a flag ship that will get it's ass kicked by a chipped, bolt on 1 series.

the speculative performance figure and bhp wasn't impressive at all - 3.0 liter straight six, 400 and change for hp, estimated 0-60 in 4 seconds, price £95,000. BMW is smoking crack if they release the M1 with that kind of engine - unless the car weighs 1000kg. That's no flagship, that's a limp-dicked response to the Audi R8!

A proper modern day BMW M1? I'd expect no less than the 6 liter V12 they supplied McLaren. 700bhp. At LEAST. And for a limited run halo car, why in god's name would they consider price? can you imagine if the M1 sold for £95K? They'd be running everywhere! That can't be BMW's intention.....can it?

Here'S the concept so far: I like it as it carries the lines of the original car quite well.
Nothing mentioned about the engine but it has been said there will be no production of this car.

I would expect nothing less than a V12 too. a flagship car having less cylinders than the M5?

just wondering.. when was the last time BMW had a turbo petrol engine?

there's the 335i twin-turbo now, but before then....I think that'd have to be the old 1980-ish 745i. The 80's also saw a 5-series turbo diesel.

what's amazing is the styling of the 1972 BMW Turbo concept car. So futuristic that it could easily with a few minor tweaks look like a modern supercar. And with gullwing doors to boot!!!
