I haven't used one, but I was at GT Art today and Gary had good things to say about this kit - he seemed to think that it's a steal for the money they're asking for it. I'd talk to him about it if I were you.

24/05/2008 - She's dead. Spun bearing, or worse - I'll know soon enough...
08/07/2008 - It's worse: bearings, crank, pistons, oil-pump - all shagged.
03/09/2008 - HKS Step 1 (2.8) kit on it's way...
23/09/2008 - HKS Kit has arrived, but in the meantime my turbos have died...
16/10/2008 - She's back from the dead! 389 at the wheels, and oodles of torque, at 1 bar.

can it use 87.5mm pistons? I'm currently casually shopping for s full stroker kit to put in my spare longblock.

87.5 mm is pushing the limits a bit on wall thickness.

I think Gary said it was around $4,500 (US).

I've just looked at their site too: can't find the stroker kit for the RB26 - can you post the link please?

without being OTT, and for the sake of accuracy - its actually a 2.85L using 87.5mm pistons, but at 87.5mm id be concerned the block has been weakened too much for 800bhp+

pistons: i'd be happier using 87mm = 2.82L or 86.5mm = 2.79L [think i got the displacement rduction correct]

So its more of a 2.8L kit for high power - but very good price compared to the competition, what compression pistons to go for would be the next choice? want up to 2.0 or 2.1bar on 99ron pump fuel, so 8:1 or 8.3:1 ? or lower?

will a 79mm stroke take 9200rpm+ ?

any thoughts?

Ummm,
yep, 87.5mm be a bit dodgy for a grunty engine.

You sleeve the block .....!!
Probably using the darton sleeves right beside the stroker kit add.....

lol

paul: is that lighter or more weight than a standard crank?

IIRC some aftermarket cranks are more, some are less?

From the horse's mouth - had an email from them today, price is $5,513 + carriage, which he quotes at $345 to the UK (fed ex).

I guess that there'd be import duty on top of that too - so, it's not really as cheap as it first seemed
