BOV'S????
This is just for information purposes and I had a good luck through and couldnt see any posts yet.
So Blow Off Valves, obviously they provide an awesome sound and turn heads but what is there real purpose, I know its to do with relieving excess boost pressure etc but can an expert give there explanation??? Also what is the best type of BOV to go for?? If you have a twin turbo setup do you need 2 BOV's? How hard are they to install yourself? Sorry if this has been mentioned before but I cant find it! I would never consider buying a cheap inimtation, so when you purhcase a BOV what comes included? Do you get a replacement peice of piping from the turbo or do you have to tap into the original? Cutting etc? Ive seen most people go for the Blitz or HKS model so thats the way Il eventually go.

I was only asking!! It was an upgrade qusetion, im sure the standard ones are good but whats wrong with wanting louder ones! Its like saying the standard GTR wheels are fine so why change them, but most people do.

I`d leave the standard dump valves in place as they`ll do the job, upgrading to expensive HKS type wont gain you anything except noise, just get a twin induction kit and you`ll get a nice whoosh when you lift off from boost anyhow.

Thanks cliff, il just give that a try first, im counting the days till I can get my R33!! So another question, is there any actual performance gain with aftermarket BOV's? Do they allow faster spool up between shifts or does it not make any difference at stage 1?

The only thing you`ll do at stage 1 with aftermarket VTA dump valves (ptshhhh type) is lose boost between gear changes as it vents to atmosphere, hence when changing gear you`ll then have to build that boost up again.
Its very minimal at the 400bhp level, but unless you`re running big big boost, it really doesn`t need to be vented. Trust me on the air filter noise, you wont want a VTA after that. My filters are HKS and sound great, very loud when lifting off the throttle when on boost ![]()

I have just received the hks ssq dump valve from newera parts. just like the sound so went and ordered one have spoken to perfect touch and they say its fine. the old hks ssq were twin but new versions are single and top mounted. this dump valve is the best on to go for in my own opinion and comes complete in a kit ready to go. I paid around £370 for it as i said i am only using it because i like the sound
