Check this vid out guys.. Its not really GTR related but since the ZR1 has beaten it round by around 2-3 secs i thought it was worthy to include here.
Check out the straight line speeds.. This thing is quick and when you consider the BHP difference between the 2 you realise just how good the GTR truly is... Roll on the V spec.. 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Nurburgring Lap Last edited by Scrappy; 11th July 2008 at 05:25 AM. |

Overlay with the GTR
YouTube - ZR1 vs GTR at the 'Ring - Garage419 Im still watching it but the GTR hardly ever looses sight of the ZR1 even after 5 mins, for instance when the GTR is exiting corner 1 the ZR1 is entering corner 2. Last edited by Scrappy; 11th July 2008 at 05:38 AM. |

Its all about the straight line speed
,as usual with the americans More horses take the Corvette in front, which is not really a wonder,i mean its lighter, more power, less loss in the drivetrain,if it would not win, they had not done their homework. but,and this is what i like in the vid: Who on here thinks he could go faster around the ring in the Vette then in a GTR?? Im sure nobody on here, would go under 8min around the ring in the vette, because it slides and drifts most of the time, the driver of the GTR looked a bit bored as he didn´t do anything appart from turning the steering a bit left and right ![]()

what is the problem if the corvette can beat the gtr around the nur?it doesnt mean this or that car is less than other!!!both cars are great.i am not a fan of zr1,but i admire that car.congratulations chevrolet,u did a great job.stop comparing hp.why we not start talking about the electronic devices that keep the gtr on the corners straight??
keep well |

I would be surprised if the Vspec doesnt shave a few more seconds off the ZR1's time but over the space of 13 miles what is 2-3 seconds? Look at the price, power and practicality differences.
I just cant wait for the London Motorshow! |

what baffles and astounds me is the engineering that went into both was good, but the GT-R....wow.....for a car that weighs 200kg's (ish) more than the ZR1 (3465lbs/1572kg) and if the ZR1 is 620hp and the GT-R 480hp then....thats 140hp more (for those that think its more or less, lets say around 100hp)
but in anycase, a car that has LESS hp than a ZR1, weighs around 200kgs MORE was only a mere few seconds away on a 22km/13.7mile long track! and on a road where - if - anyone was to race (i don't suggest it :P) then would you really notice after a mile or 2, straight line is straight line not as much skill involved as doing the same thing WITH turns......AND how many people would be able to push it as hard as those guys did as consistently! ZR1 - i'm sure is great fun and is obviously a great car! no doubt! but i can't help but feel a bit more engineering and it could have been so much better/faster! GT-R - i am seriously impressed for a car of this weight and lesser hp to be able to keep up so well with what the cream of the crop from 'GM's elite' is offering! these car showdowns can only mean better cars for us! ![]() i'm so glad i got my order for a GT-R! ![]() |

I think the ZR1's time was by an engineer, not a racing driver, so it should go a few seconds quicker yet.
What I would like to know is how much fun both the ZR1 and GTR to drive as a lot of the GTR's detracters say it is not as involving as other cars. Looked like Clarkson had fun though!! |

Yeah don't sell the ZR1s time short, that is completely awesome and its by all rights the quicker car. You could say the other way around, imagine a ZR1 with a GTRs fancy gearbox and AWD etc etc. Different way of doing it.
No doubt the VSpec will mix it up a little ![]() |
