Supracat, are you sure that you didn't get a bit too carried away with the whole thing? I mean you've knocked up close to 1000 posts on this car!
You complain about the charge for the silver and you had effectively got £1500 worth of extra for free! Me, if I want to change I have to cough up! BUT, if I have to pay it I will as this still seems like an opportunity not to miss and nothing is going to stop me getting this car. Yeah Nissan have made a few **** ups along the way so far, but I have friends that would die for a free trackday at silverstone in this car, let alone own one. I just hope that you don't live to regret your decision. In the mean time, hope you enjoy your Dino ![]() |

Gobsmacked Suprabuddy but share your frustration and fully understand. I dip in and out the forum from time to time but you've pretty much been active on a daily basis and maybe the negativity from some threads has finally dampened your enthusiasm.
Hope you still make it along to the roadshow at Nobles as it would be good to meet up and have a chat about your other sets of wheels. Glad you still reckon that once Nissan show they can deliver a service as good as the car you'll be driving the R35 someday. Good luck in hunting down the alternative classics meantime. Hope Topgear Sunday night isn't too painful to watch. |

Will look forward to meeting you at the event (assuming i'm still entitled to attend???) too.
Afraid i'm a person of principles, and nissan appear to keep changing the goalposts every month. Yep, there's been quite of bit of negativity on here, as well as a lot of positives too. But the bottom line for me was the issue regarding my wife's non-attendance at the trackday event and not being able to get a clear answer on this, coupled with the deadline for refund of deposit. Therev was no way i was prepared to hold a deposit on a car for my wife when she couldn't even attend the VIP events! as i've said from day one this car was basically being bought for my wife to use day to day, it just so happened that all our car insurance policies are in my name therefore when we placed the order and were told it had to be in one name only we elected to put my name down to avoid any issues downstream. I'm still really enthusiastic about this car and will take great pleasure in hearing how everyone else gets on with it - but for the time being i'll look elsewhere for my driving pleasures.

Im not sure, but Nissan will give you the car when they have written it in your confirmation,i dont know what you expect, but im expecting my car when the delivery date is set,and nothing else befor, the trackday is a nice goodie, the helmet is very nice too,but other then that,i just want the car. I dont want to get treated like a VIP,as im a normal working person,im happy that they give a shit service, because good service costs money(which the buyer of the car pays with the carprice) and tbh,im happy that the car is cheap,as if it would be much more expensive,i could not afford it without getting money of a bank(which i dont do for a car that i dont "need") best regards Alex

The new GTR is a bargain and you get more then what you pay for. Something that you can't say about a japanese new M3, it costs 2.000.000Yen more then the GTR ove here and it is hard for BMW over here to justify that price tag, as you get sometimes more VIP service when buying a Suzuki Swift else where . . . . . Well at least the japanese M3 customers don't much care about the price, they usually have 3 of them in the garage . . . Other note : I also feel funny about this howl stress about theses stupid orders in Europe,as if the new GTR isn't yet out and it would only come out exclusively for the EU. I mean there is still one year to wait for it, so you can also wait 2 years to buy one. Just drop by in japan, drive one or two and take your dose. It's a briliant car, but I have come to the conclusing that waiting a year just for the EU-version(freezing money just for that event) is a bit overhyped. Back last year I was lucky to seat inside the car one day after the official presentation . .yes I wanted one right that moment. Then 3 months after drove one for a few minutes and came down with the hype a bit after. Now I see at least 2 of them per day (and not the same cars ) over here in Aichi prefecture . . . And when I visited Garage Defend 3 weeks ago, their Demo R35 was up for sale and it was parket near to a 700HP Esprit tuned Supra. So the Supra is for sale at 1/4 of that R35 price. Both are used cars , both have lost warranty, the R35 has 520HP and a mission that will probably collaps with a few more HP, the Supra has a welded chassis and 700HP . . . . .so honestly it would be stupid to take the R35 over that Supra . . . . That's my two penny thoughts on the situation . . . |

Can't believe you cancelled the order supracat, but I understand your reasons why. I've owned lots of mercs so am used to rubbish service so I'm hanging in there! I haven't been on the forum for a while as my hard disc blew up (everybody back up important stuff on your computer now!!!), and I was shocked to see your cancellation.
Think you'll def get one in the future if your past comments are anything to go by; enjoy dino!! |

Hey Suprabro. You've been quiet for so many days that I was beginning to worry about you. I was just about to start a "Missing Persons" thread to see if anybody knew your whereabouts, and then you reappear without warning and hit us with this revelation!
I'm sorry to hear that you've decided to cancel your GT-R. As THE most dedicated and enthusiastic contributor to the R35-related sub-forums, I hope that your cancellation will have a far greater resonance with whatever part of Nissan (GB/UK, Europe or Japan) is responsible for all the atrocious decisions that have been taken over the last few months - assuming that they pay attention to their official owners' club. Personally I think that Nissan's heart is in the right place. The company is trying to make us feel like VIPs (with the motor show passes, the helmets, the concierge concept, the track days, etc). Unfortunately, whoever is responsible for implementing these initiatives is not doing a particularly good job of it, with a general lack of information, forethought and consistency. I wish that I was selfless enough to make a gesture like yours to make Nissan take notice - but unfortunately I'm not. My initial high expectations have been adjusted down a notch, so I'm now actually enjoying the GT-R buying experience - I'm just back from Goodwood and I'm hoping to go to the motor show in a couple of weeks. Nevertheless, for the sake of both Nissan and its future GT-R customers, I hope that things can and will improve. Perhaps you will be the first true martyr to the cause. Saint Supracat has a nice ring to it! Anyway, I'm really glad that you're not deserting us completely. I remember the first day that I logged onto the forum and the "Last Post by" column wasn't completely filled with your name! It was very unnerving. It's been a much quieter place in your absence.Like dwreid, I also hope to finally meet you when the GT-R comes to Nobles.

Real shame you've cancelled. And the Silverstone "only one person can attend" excuse from Nissan is simply laughable. It would not only have been simple to let people bring a partner or friend, but good business sense too. I am sure many of us would have brought friends who may well have ordered a car themselves (my brother is disappointed he can't come, and quite seriously he very likely would have bought one on the spot). It would have been really easy to just let people who have ordered drive, and let others spectate. It happens at race tracks with other car manufacturers all the time. The extra cost? A few quid for a sandwich and a cup of tea for the guest.....
Sorry to have to say that experience says your next post will probably be to say that Nissan have at last communicated with you - to withdraw your invitation..... Actually, if that happens I think we should start an "Unleash the Supracat Two" campaign to get Nissan UK to allow you AND your wife to come....?? You obviously love their product, and it might get noticed elsewhere in the Nissan empire. And if they do let you come, you never know, you might re-consider...??? I'm sorry but you obviosly didn't want it very bad..
If I was in the financial position to buy one I'd be literally creaming my pants to be in line to get one. You cancelled it becasue your wife couldn't go to silverstone ![]() You said yourself she didn't want to drive at the day anyway. Hope you don't regret it too much. |

i'm guessing it's more the fact that he and his wife who like to do things together didn't even have the option, if i was in a similar situation i'm not sure what i would have done, but i might have considered what Supracat did if me and my wife were both up for the event (regardless of if she did or didn't want to drive it)....i agree it's more about principle, i'm assuming Supracat is pretty close to his wife on these sort of things.......sorry if i seem to be speaking for anyone but i thought i could relate so i posted; just gave my opinion if i were to be in a similar situation

Obviously it's the principle but I'd have just kicked up a fuss about the silverstone day and not gone myself rather than cancelling the car.
My mrs loves our jap performance stuff as much as I do and can understand where the OP is coming from but.. I'd have just arranged my own trip out with the mrs. It'd prob be better than a nissan day out and you could enjoy the new car together. I was wondering if it's some sort of health and saftey nonsence regarding 1 person only? I mean you can go along and watch at track days etc so maybe Nissan have hired silverstone and need to keep account of all people for insurance or some other H&S rubbish? It's almost something I'd do myself, but I know I'd be even more pi55ed off the night the car would have bene mine to drive! |

well Nissan couldn't arrange a proper day that we can do on our own as you say, complete agree with your point btw but if they are doing it at least do it properly Nissan!
as much as i see your point, it's not likely that Nissan are going to lend you a car to do it in though......i know that i want to do these racing academy days so that when i have completed the last one i can get my racing license finally (completing ALL 4 challenges gives a racing license at the end - what the concierge have said, anyone care to confirm that?) but back on topic, it is a bit extreme well to each their own |

I think this partner thing at Race Academy is very difficult. If you're buying jointly with your partner that does sound like a basis for argument. .... but .... if your partner could go, could I take my son? It's his inheritance I'm spending ..............
