Cancelled Order
Hi Guys/Gals,
apologies for being pretty quiet of late - have taken a much deserved hol. Anyway, i'm sorry to report that my wife and i took the painful decision to cancel our GTR order on 5th July. - we can totally relate to Dr GTR and others on here. THis was purely down to the following reasons; 1. nissans' total balls up with the initial ordering process (albeit, i was slowly getting over it) 2. VIP race academy events - my initial order was clearly made via my HPC on the basis that it was joint between my wife and I (its just the way we like to do things!). this was accepted, albeit the order form only allowed for one of us to be named contact i.e. me. - i went to book my slot (was trying to get same slot as supraman) and discovered that i could add not my wife. Sharon at nobles contacted nissan on my behalf and assured us everything would be fine and that nissan would be in touch directly as 'special cases' could be accomodated (the fact is that my wife didnt actually want to drive the car round the track but merely wanted to enjoy the days' experience on the basis of a joint owner in this car) - week went by and still no contact from Nissan. - then discovered that almost all slots had gone - forced to reserve one slot, but still no call from nissan regarding my wife's attendance! 3. Change in price for silver cars - admittedly didnt affect me as i'd ordered silver from start but i've still got my letter which states colour changes could be accommodated up to 4 months prior ot delivery- at no point did it ever mention my fellow GTR'rs woud have to pay for making this switch to silver. 4. when i called concierge service on 3rd july to enquire about whether i still had the option to cancel my order (was still only considering it at this point) they initially had no idea, then i got put through to someone else who said that i defintely couldn't as time limit had expired-despite arguing with them they maintained this was case. Then i called back later, got someone else and they said there was no problem with cancelling for many months yet. i took precaution of calling Sharon at nobles who informed me that very day was cut-off point! I'm afraid the above were the last straw for me as i've lost all confidence in the whole process. just seems to be total shambolic and not thought out properly form the start, with little sign of progress. Guess that's the bad news over with, however, i'm now looking our for a R33 or R34 GTR to play with instead, and have also decided to add a classic Ferarri 246 Dino to the stable - kind of cheer me up get me over the R35 GTR debacle!! - will post up pics in due course, albeit will take my time over the summer to find the right cars. In the meantime i'll get back into action on the forum (as i still really, really like this car!), and might, just might, be tempted into buying an R35 GTR in the future once i've found out how the rest of you have got on with yours, and certainly once i'm confident that nissan can really deliver the service, ownership experience, basic courtesy etc p.s. with regards my cancellation and areas of complaint i've still not received any call or letter from Nissan in this regard - hopeless!!, just bl**dy hopeless!!

im sorry for what has happened to you but its you HPC's fault. she shouldnt have told you that she could get your wife on the trip and that it would all be ok. Nissan made it clear to all the hpc's that the owner of the car was going, not anyone else. Again hateful that you are so pissed that you have cancelled but i think you may regret it, the car will be awesome and i just wish these so called HIGH PERFORMANCE CENTRES would get their act in gear and stop promising the world when all they have is a fookin town!!

Nissan couldn't organise a pissup in a brewery, or an orgy in a lifers' prison!
HPCs can only go on what they're given from the manufacturer and unfortunately Nissan seem to have forgotten that it isn't the latest Micra they're dealing with, its meant to be their flagship car ![]() |

cheers mate - appreciate the comments. To be fair to my HPC they've been excellent so i'm not quite sure what happened regarding the event issue. as a matter of principle and total respect for my wife we were left in the position of not knowing for sure whether she could attend, and being told we had to decide that day if we wanted to cancel and get a refund - basically time ran out, no word from nissan regarding my wife attending or not, and me finally losing all confidence. simple as that really.
I've viewed a few 246's and 246 GTS's over past few days. As far as R33/R34 goes the latter is my pref (although saw a minted R33 at weekend), altough another Supra isnt totally out of the equation either. am in the fortuneate position of being able to take my time to find the right cars - its certainly helping me get over the R35 experience! Have to admit that i will probably get an R35 at some future point be it second hand, import route, or new but will wait until i know the cars can be fully supported/serviced properly/hear from guys like yourself on your own experiences etc - am so p***ed off with the whole thing i really do not want now to be one of the first owners and potentially go through the 'initial teething pains' - the experience so far does not bode well for early owners, imho of course!

sorry to hear about your process and the bullcrap you had to deal with, i do agree though, the concierge and various dealers do give a lot of different info ( they aren't in anyway rude or anything, very nice but everyone seems to be informed differently)

yep, ' no joined up thinking' seems to spring to mind.
anyway, i'm looking forward to hearing how everyone else gets on with their cars in due course, and sincerely hope that nissan somehow turn this whole process around over the coming months - i'll be 'heckling' the cause from the sidelines though!! ![]()

cheers fuggles.
yes, what started out as being a dream car with high expectations has really turned sour as the months have gone by. - this might in part be down to my own perceived high expectation levels as well. However, you are quite right, i dont believe i'm the only one on here who has been disappointed so far, and i'll certainly not be the last! for the sake of those who are keeping the faith and going the distance i sincerely hope their dreams are fulfilled. This is still a dream car, and one which i really, really, really desired and wanted to have a good experience with - sadly, its not meant to be, and as said earlier i'll support those of you 'going the distance' and hope to live the dream myself at some future date. anyway, back to searching for a 246 before i get too depressed again..................

its all about expectation...
As a import buyer I knew I was on my own with the support of some members here.... you know who you are :-) I got it early compared to the most of the UK (waited 7 months), I've just started to explore what it can do and its amazing! Yes I'm sure it will shed pads like they are out of fashion and its quite wide but there is nothing like it. Nissan UK is new to Preimun midship stuff, Japan is not, they will catch on but it will take time. Don't blaim the car for what the UK head office can't quite sort out yet. I think Nissan knows it has to get better in the regions and it will. A R34 or R33 is a good choice to play with, I had some quality time with my R33 GTR on Wednesday and besides the list of fixes, I love it still. On the track stuff from Nissan its easy to get into most of the tracks so taking the wife and leaving her in a stadium would be easy. My wife drives the R35 but would not drive on track so I just dump her somewhere and she drifts in and watches from there. Most tutored track days need a lot of organisation if they offered a +1 to all it would mean a double up on buses and catering. At a track this is not cheap, so I see why they said no out of hand. They should have called you to explain is another story..... see one in the flesh....you will want it, you are only here once |

I'm shocked especially as you seemed to be the most enthusiastic poster I've ever seen racking up ten times my contributions but I completely understand. I'm glad you're not leaving the forum ![]() But can some one tell me WTF the silver premium is all about?! That's my backup colour and I've heard nothing about it. |

Sorry to hear that you have cancelled.
I can see totally where you are coming from it has been a bit of a debacle the ordering process right through to the events. Nissan really need to get it together and stop moving the goalposts it doesnt bode well for 1st time nissan buyers. I wonder how the cancellation deadline passing affects customers with cars on backorder. Anyways good luck on finding a nice Dino
