I have a buddy of mine that went with a FI-66 on a 2JZ. Turbo makes massive power and spooled much faster then the Greddy T78 he had before. Compare the flow map of it with some other 66mm.

SteveN,

What size is your Holset turbo again??

I have bene talking to lots of people in the states about Holsets as they aseem to use them a lto for performance petrol cars!
They also rate the older H1E version over the HX40 as being more durable and quicker spooling?!
One thing I have been told is apparently anything smaller than a 19cm housing is only available in T3 fitment? can anyone else confirm this? i have been looking at a 19cm housing as an option for my FD and wondered if this would suit the RB30 build for 600bhp or be abit big?? Alternatively I have found a custom .84 A/R exhaust housing option on the H1E for the skyline?

Let me know your thoghuts chaps!

Thank you
Lee

HX35 and HX40 comes only with a divided T3 flange.

A HX40 is similar in size as a T61 as it has 60mm intake wheel and 65mm exhaust wheel. If you are searching for a GReddy T78 sized turbo I would get a Holset HX52 or a Holset HX52 Pro for more grunt. HX52 are 65-67mm intake wheel and 72-78 exhaust wheels with usually a 16cm^2 exhaust housing which is around 1.1A/R. The Pro52 has 71/71mm wheels with a 16cm^2 housing but it should have more advanced wheel design. I'm thinking of getting the Pro52 for next season.

H50/52/55 comes with a similar foot print to a divided T4. You might have to machine the bolt holses a little bigger but the mouth is a 100% match for a divided T4.

It's a British company. Surely you should have lots of retailers.

Hey Krister,
Thanks for the info.. I knew about the flanges not quite fitting but being a simple MOD. I have found a few people doing custom housngs so you can get a T4 flange on an HX40. Also the H1E which is the older version of the HX40 comes with T4 options depending on the size of housng you go for.

Regarding sizes I have been advised as I am only looking for 600bhp a HX40 or H1E should be more than fine.. Maybe the HX50 will be a bit too laggy?
I have managed to find a lot more info in the states.. Also if you want to buy one.. typical as it is that we get ripped off for everything in this country you can buy them in the states much cheaper! Generally because practically all the big rigs use them!

A HX40 or HX 40 Super would be a good choice for 600hp. An audi 5cyl 2.2 dynoed 700hp with the HX40 Super here in Finland. You could also just change the flange on the exhust manifold to T3 or get an adapter from Ebay.
eBay Motors: Custom T3 divided to T4 divided turbo adapter flange (item 120197265697 end time Oct-07-08 07:29:58 PDT)

In my experience the US guys know very little about Holsets. I would just contact a Holset dealer and tell them you want a HX40 Super. Here's an advert of the Super and Pro52:

BTW. Here's a conversion form I found how to convert CM^2 to A/R.

cm2-a/r conversion formula:

((cm2x8)-7)/100=a/r

6 cm2 = 0.41 A/R
7 cm2 = 0.49 A/R
8 cm2 = 0.57 A/R
9 cm2 = 0.65 A/R
10 cm2 = 0.73 A/R
11 cm2 = 0.81 A/R
12 cm2 = 0.89 A/R
14 cm2 = 0.97 A/R
15 cm2 = 1.05 A/R
16 cm2 = 1.13 A/R
17 cm2 = 1.29 A/R
19 cm2 = 1.37 A/R

Thank you for that.

How accurate is the conversion form?? Those A/R's seem really high? on one hand I have been advised the 16cm housing would be good.. and for another turbo that a 0.86A/R would be good?
