Difference between 2860-5 & 2860RS5

Anyone know what the difference is between these two, if any. I've looked on the Garrett site but this just gives graphs. Is there any difference in spool up, top end performance, quality & price. I was thinking of 2530's but on a stock engine I think these should be more than adequate.

2860-5's are quite similar to the hks 2530 !!!!! Some tuners say the same. The -7 2860 is the smaller one ,quite similar to the hks gtss.

Thanks Banzai, but what I really want to know is the difference between the two types of 2860 turbo, if any, both made by Garrett.

The -7 would suit your engine !!!! Throw in a set of cams ,fuel pump and a decent ecu/map 450-500 !!?

GT2860RS is the designation for the Disco Potato. It is not a turbo that you would want to run on your stock RB26. It would be more work. The -1 and -5 refer to the turbine housing options.

The options when it comes to GT2860's that are bolt-on turbos for the GT-R are the -7 (smaller, lower boost threshold, less top end, and less power potential) and the -5 (larger, higher boost threshold, more top end, more power potential). There are about two dozen threads comparing those two turbochargers in the last 3 months alone, so use that search feature or also try searching for posts made by me, I have participated in a few of the threads.

Either the -7 or -5 will work wonderfully on a 100% stock RB26.

Found out the difference by phoning a Garrett distributor. It seems the internals & performance of the GT2860-5 & Gt2860RS5 are virtually identical. The difference is in the mountings, the 2860-5 is a straight swap for the original turbo wheras the 2860rs is different & would require modifications to fit.
Anyway it doesn't matter now as I've aquired a new pair of 2860-5's!!
Thanks for all your help.
