STEREO HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone

I have cd/dvd stereo in my GTR that is pissing me off. It has power as the display lights up but that's all it does. I cannot play cd's, the display screen does not come out and none of the buttons work. It desplays "ent-leve" when you turn the ignition on. Apparently it worked for the previous owner but reverted to the above when the battery was changed. I have since installed a monster battery but the problem persists. Any ideas? I have a grounding kit ready to be fitted but not sure if this will make any difference. The manual says "ent-leve" has something to do with the voltage being in the wrong range?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I don't want to have to pay to get it looked at as I'm a struggling GTR owner .

Thanks

Just to test it, run a length of wire direct from the battery +ve to both the +12V and 'switched 12V' lines. Make sure you've got a decent earth on the HU too.

If it works then either your main feed or switched feed are duff; try them one at a time to find out which.

Before doing that try swapping the permanent and switched 12v feeds round, my clarion would do something similar til I switched them

Hang on, when you say it worked for the previous owner but started giving the ent-leve error message after a battery change, do you mean after he changed his battery or you changed yours?

He might have killed it you see!

After he changed his to a shitty little battery.

It kept going flat on me so I then changed it again to a bigger one but the "ent-leve" message remained.

Cheers

Chances are the low voltage could have killed it, it will try to pull more current as the voltage drops (this is the quickest way to kill a car amp btw, mucho smoke/flamage )
Best way to check is get a working battery, and as ru said, hook the head unit up directly to it ie positive terminal to the 2 12v inputs, and the negative to the earth

If it still doesn't work, the low voltage from the previous battery killed it

It could just be part of it thats damaged, like I said only way to know for sure is to hook it up directly to a battery
If it does work then get a multimeter out and see what voltage the radio power wires are showing

Is it a coded unit?? When you changed the battery, you then have to enter a code, if it is a coded unit.

RIP IT OUT and place it on a bat outside of the car but remember to place an earth to the chassis of the stereo and see what happens my fault was down to a wiring snag on the car quick rewire and well rocking all over the world

try that mate

Check that it's got a good earth on the black wire. The skyline doesnt have an earth wire in with the radio loom, it relys in the radio chassis being bolted into the dash for an earth.
Run the black wire off the radio to a good earth point, usually you can find a 10mm bolt onto the chassis behind the radio.
