I am looking to buy a GTS and have been researching tuning them. The standard turbo is the limiting factor, I have read elsewhere that you cant really run more than 0.9 bar without melting the turbo, so I would recommend a FMIC and some kind of turbo upgrade...
Hope this helps! ![]() |

Use the search function - this has been duscussed many times. Look in Engine Mods and Turbos forums aswell. Lots there. Do a search using my name if you like - Ive asked the same questions!
Im gonna have to get a new turbo soon. Ive reached the max power I can acheive on std poopy turbo. I would say get a turbo sorted (min cost £400). Up the boost a bit, preferably on the rollers to check fuelling etc. AFM is no good for much above 350bhp. Std Fuel pump needs ditching when chasing 300bhp, then FMIC - get a decent one - good enough for at LEAST your minimum future power aims. Most Jap spec FMICs (HKS/Apexi/Blitz to name a few) are good for at least 400 - hopefully 450 bhp. Injectors are OK for a safe 370bhp. Engine is OK for about 350-370 I reckon, before it needs spitting. We'll see. I want the power but I dont want to split the lump. Management may be the way round it. Lookin into all options myself right now. Turbos, management, MHG required?, how Im gonna pay for it - the usual stuff ![]() This is obviously my opinion. Get a professional if you're not sure or confident. Enjoy the ride tho. Get a set of springs to help hang on in there..... ![]() |

starting
down this road myself - based on what ive read im getting -
FMIC - Trust Greddy e-manage Downpipes Cat replacement pipe Apexi AVC-R GTR fuel pump Already have - Apexi induction Blitz exhaust Hopefully with proper setting up I will hit the 300 bhp mark as these mods have produced close in other threads. WIll be done mid-May on rollers so I'll let you know how it went. After this from what Ive read its a bit more money needed ![]() Bigger turbo or steel internals Metal Head gasket Cams Bigger injectors Boost hike Engine internals AFM All of which I'll go for eventually after I've worked my fingers to the bone ![]() Should see 350 - 400 hopefully which is where I'll stop and buy a GTR lol Good luck in the quest for power, David |

![]() I can here it over the exhaust aswell - even with the bung out. You best get yourself down here so I can take youout for a rip up the road - even if it is at a loly 300bhp - not 330 (running 0.75 bar boost to preserve turbo a bit longer!) But I must stress, it will feel quicker than any 300bhp GTS - cos Im carrying round about 250kg less ![]() |

I might be interested.
Can you let me know roughly how much you would be looking for, the condition and weather it would be good to put on my FD or not. Would it require me to also get a front mount intercooler to be able to feal with it? Cheers Lee Edit: I thought that was a PM, nevermind. Please respond with a private message. |
