Talking Stu's mods

For all those interested, below is a list of the gear I've added to my car...

...custom downflow pipe
decat pipe
HKS super powerflow kit
GTR intercooler + custom stainless steel pipe kit
Turbonetics 25/35 spec full roller bearing turbo
Forged pistons & balanced big end
Baffled sump
HKS oil cooler
HKS Plugs
Apexi Power FC (+ GT-aRT magic touches)

Already had...HKS EVC IV boost controller

Still to come...nose cone to accomodate front-mounted intercooler

Currently running 0.9 bar boost and limited to 5500 revs to run in. Even at this setting the turbo/car is awesome

If any of you chaps are thinking of doing some work to your GTS then i can definately recommend the above route and Gary at GT-aRT.

I plan to dyno the car in Jan so will be able togive current specs. Obviously theres always more taht can be done.

Once I get back to work next week I'll post some pics of the engine etc

A Happy Stu

Stu
Let me know when and where your dyno will happen and I will try to make it along.
Are there any more mods in the pipeline or is that it for the moment.
Best regards Alan

mods?

Did removing the cat make much difference in power?and are you still running the standard head gasket? Im having trouble with my gtst seems to have no low down torque what's Gary like to deal with?

Stu's bits

Hi 5zuk,

You've got to remember my car was off the road for 4 months so (1) when I got it back it was very fats compared to my 306 turbo deisel and (2) I had all the mods done in a single step. So basically I have no idea what effect having the cat out had...sorry.

As far as the head gasket goes I've got a HKS steel head gasket. With the kind of power I'm kicking out a standard gasket would have been an insane choice. After having detted 5 pistons previously I'm going for the careful options .

Low down torque on my beast is awesome, upper end torque is just stupid and I'm still running her in. Thankfully the car still maintains its GTS characteristics i.e. very easy to drive at low revs especially in the current icy conditions. Was something that worried me but it was needless worry. This is a fantastic car to drive.

My main problem at the minute is getting the power down. The GTR clutch is slipping so having to upgrade to a HKS twin/triple or equivalent

Gary is fantatstic to deal with. He's on the ball, does his homework, runs through your options and puts his heart and soul into the car. I've previously been badly stung by dodgy tuners so i'm very careful now and Gary is definately worth dealing with . I'll be upo your way soon so I'll take you out in the car to show you what I mean. It'll be run in by then so we should be running at full power

Cheers,

Stu
