He he, everyone was so impressed with this year's Nismo Festival that nobody posted anything!

I was utterly, utterly disappointed today. I felt Nismo really let down everyone that supports all things Nissan. Nothing new, no V-spec/Evo/LM version of the R35 (whatever it's to be called!), no new 370Z (I saw one at a dealer yesterday for God's sake!...not even the Nismo version!), no new 2009 Super GT development mule....

And to really insult die hard fans of the GTR badge Nismo asked every tuner to please leave their tuned R35 GT-R demo cars home. There was to be no modified R35 allowed at Fuji today. Why? Guess Nismo/Nissan wants to show people that the new GT-R will not be associated with the tuning world. This from a company that has recently released the Club Sport package that albeit involves no engine tuning (aside from an exhaust system) does nothing to up power but improves how the car drives thanks to revised suspension.

I came away feeling very confused. What will the future of Nismo/Nissan bring to the real die hard fan? Even the usually boring-as-sin Toyota Festival had the Nismo Festival beat this year. Toyoda-san took the Nur 24h LF-A around Fuji, they had the cool Iq battle, Button drifting and doing burnouts in the F1 car as well as the announcement of a tuned Corolla race series.

Was I the only one left feeling this way? What did the others think? Was Carlos Ghosn's appearance from the big Nissan transporter enough to get your juices flowing of did you feel shortchanged?
