Trust T88h-38gk

Hello,

I'd want to know, your opinion, if the t88h-38gk with not high boost (so 1.5->1.7 for 700/750ps and 70kgm) can be used with std bnr34 gearbox in normal driving (street/track not drag). it is possible or this turbo is really too powerfull for the bnr34's transmission so is not possible a safe running?

Thks

Carlo

I have had no experience with the turbo but the Getrag 6 speed should okay with that power, I know a few people are running that kind of power with one.

That turbo is very laggy. Uses a old style mitsu turbine wheel and comp wheel. Their are much better and faster spooling units out there.

The 4094R is a good unit, the TC68 is a good unit, the FI-68 is a good unit as well.

All of them will flow 80+lbs/min. The 4094R flows 81, the TC68 flows 80lbs/min and the FI-68 flows 83lbs/min.

your wrong, the T88-38gk is very different to T78-T88 turbos. Uses different wheels...will grab a pic...have dyno data also...

Just to add, did some digging on other RBs and turbo combos.....very interesting, 2 makers show comparable results, one maker well...

With the data, it was made and where there were gaps, I calculated the odds (OS and HKS) Trust I had the dyno data per 100rpm, so thats as accurate as can be.

Hi there,
I have alot of experience using t88 turbo's...
Hence the User name
I can tell you from experience with good head work and big cams i have got the t88h-38gk to come alive at 4800rpm im my opinion you cant beat that for a 1200hp+ turbo!

But minor head work with say 272, 10.5lift cams your looking at around 5200-5500rpm which is respectable..

Questions about the gearbox its not the Turbo that destroys em its the driver lol...Keep in mind the characteristics of a single turbo like a t88, it doesn't build up like other turbo's it just comes on boost hard!... So it can be a little harsh on the gearbox's etc...But you should be fine...Its more the shifting that may break your precious 3rd Gear...

In my opinion the best turbo out there at the moment is Garret GT4088R / 4094 (as mentioned above).

Take a look at my dynograph. This is with a stock head, stock intake, stock cams, stock displacement, stock comp ratio.
Only thing changed is pistons / rods / headgasket for durability.

This dyno session was done on a VERY hot day, with around 40C intake temps.

I have tried lots of different turbo`s, and this is the best yet.

Cant wait to get new cams

Asim

Thks for your replies.

The 700ps limit is only for safe reason about standard gearbox. I want to rebuild the engine in the future but i dont want to change the gearbox too (with OS88 or similar).

can you tell me what cams duration in+ex+lift + what headwork you used to get the t88-gk spool at 4800rpm [is that 0.1bar+ or 0.5bar+ etc etc ?]

with the 272, 10.5lift cams + minor head work what boost was it making at 5.2-5500rpm ?

do you have dyno sheets showing both?

thanks.
