New or Nearly New ?
Hi,
i'm a new member and am looking for some advice I have been thinking about ordering a GT-R for quite some time now and last week took the plunge [after spending a long weekend convincing my boyfriend it was a good idea]. I called the Nissan dealer here in Zurich , "yes", he could get me a car , sometime late 2010 , no sat nav but I could choose the colour [which i thought was nice of him] not the model , just the colour ...... and the price ..... 190,000 CHF or in real money £90,000 give or take a few tanks of fuel. So, it is a no to the robbing man from Zurich. To my question, I can order a European spec car from a UK dealer and wait until 2010 for delivery, however , with the slowdown of the global economy and the fact that most of Europe drives on the right I'm guessing that I will be able to pick up a European LHD spec car from somewhere in mainland Europe by late 2009 [or hopefully earlier] ? I'm also guessing there will be many available to choose from. Is this a better idea than ordering one ? will it be more or less expensive ? .... this way I don't have to commit £3,500 as a deposit before taking a test drive and being a woman, I can change my mind ... it has been known to happen all thoughts welcome cheers, Mal |

Ouch. £90k!
My dad bought his non satnav LHD one for £60k at the Swedish Nissan HPC and it should be arriving in April 2009 I would seriously look at buying a close to new one from another EU-country after release. I'm not familiar with the import procedure in your country but if there is no extra taxes like in Norway or Finland you should be able to get away much cheaper than £90k. No toll or VAT within EU ![]() US imports should be comming in soon to Europe so that could also be an option but you would probobly loose the warranty on those which might be handy considering the prices on gearboxes and engines. Edit: Your Nissan guy seems strange. All EU-spec cars nowadays are satnav and why wouldn't you be able to choose the model? I mean if it's a 2010 delivery car it wont be manufactured for some time and you should be able to spec it as you please Last edited by Yakozan; 6th August 2008 at 08:39 AM. |

Hi,
I think that Switzerland is , in this case, considered to be outside of Europe ; especially by the sales man ... I am hoping that by late 2009 that it will be easy[ish] to pick up a nearly new GT-R from somewhere in Europe. I will have to pay import duty and VAT but it should still come to less than £90K and to be honest I dont want to pay the Swiss dealer , even if I could afford to, I think he is just trying to rip me off £35K in Japan .... £90K in Switzerland .... hmmm |

According to gtrnissan.com there are two HPCs in Switzerland.
RRGGROUP Zürich SA Nissan Progress Wehntalerstrasse 625 Zürich, 8046 +41 43 299 10 10 gtr@nissan-zuerich.ch Promocar SA 5, avenue de Mategnin Meyrin, 1217 +41 22 782 44 41 contact one of them and see if the give you the same price. according to the www.gtrnissan.com webpage, a base GTR in Switzerland should be about £55k (Sfr.112'400) if I did the currency converting right. There are prices for all three different models on www.gtrnissan.com |
