Is it easy to fit a chip?

To an r32 gtr ecu. My car is a 1991 model...Is it just a case of replacing the chip or is it harder than it looks..

don't change anything without talking thoroughly with a tuner. And you don't chip the ECU, you have to replace it with one that's been remapped. And if you stick in a Japanese remapped ECU(Tomei, Mines, etc), your engine will blow due to octane differences and you'll be out ten grand to rebuild the thing.

the chip is one from rk tuning. They are going to have it set for stage 1 mods and 97 ron fuel...They implied to me that the eprom can be replaced in the ecu.

Well thats not really true! You will not blow up yoru car automatically by using a jap tuned ECU! My R33 has a Jun stage 1 chip, it runs fine on 99 Ron tesco fuel, no det, had it on the rollers and all fueling checked blah blah!

I have recently chipped my R32 ECU.

To do this I bought a 28 pin dip socket, unsoldered the old chip, soldered the socket and then fitted a stage 1 eprom.

I have been very pleased so far with the result, as I was simply after better fuel economy and drivability. The RK chip is supposed to be very good, so if they can supply you the chip or you have got hold of one, go for it!

If you need any help pm me.
