Paypal

/Rant

Paypal are the biggest lump of undigested donkey scrotums to ever materialise as an online payment service.

So Egay buy them out and decide "YOU NOW HAVE TO ACCEPT PAYPAL AS PAYMENT METHOD" So we're all stuck with their hellish turd of a service.

To prove how much of an utter c**t it is, check this out -

I've been a member of Ebay since 2005, and i've also had a paypal account for the same amount of time, I have 100% positive feedback on 52 transactions, and no disputes/unpaid problems. Also, Ebay even sent me a £10 vouncher in the post last week for being "A Great Ebayer, etc"

Yet when I listed some stuff the other day, I got a message saying:

"Due to your limited transaction history, paypal may hold any payment made to your account as pending, for 21 days, or until you receive positive feedback from the buyer"

Ok, um... so... I sell something on Ebay, and if the person decides to pay via Gaypal, i'm expected to ship the item "in good faith" and wait until I receive positive feedback, before I even see a red cent? Who the f**k do they think they are? forcing anyone with a transaction history of less than 100, to keep money in Gaypal for 21 days making them interest, and for you to give stuff away on the basis of a "pending transaction" You'd have to be a f*****g lunatic to ship anything unless you have the cash... AND If I decide to keep the item until the cash clears in my account, the buyer will get pissed off and leave negative feedback before 21 days, which will fcuk you over further - how do you win if you use w4nkpal?

Paypal is totally unsecure, its wrong how they can force an unsecure service to be an accepted payment method... Its a piece of piss to hack someones email account.. Not so easy to hack a bank account though, AND you're covered by your banks fraud/security protection...
Since when the fcuk did anyone ever class logging into an online payment system with an email account as *secure*???

Paypal say "We're secure, because each time you put funds into your paypal account from your bank account - we send you an email".....

*Duuuhh*??

If your paypal account has been hacked - your email account has also been hacked, in many cases a webmail account - so the hacker deletes the emails and noone knows until you ring the bank - And then you're fcuked too, because the money came out of a hacked paypal account which you setup the funding from, so they won't help as it wasn't their fault you used a 3rd party.

What the hell is wrong with Direct bank transfer, A-B transaction between 2 banks, no fees, you're covered by your account security AND its *extremley* difficult to gain access to someone's online banking. (unlike tw4tpal)

I hope the Government does something about this in the future (unlikley lol) In Austrailia, Ebay tried to make paypal be accepted on all auctions, but the government told them to get fcuked, under anti-competition laws.

Crooked bastards.

Go for it, make sure you scrape ever last penny you can - and then more.. They're the biggest rotten crooked bunch of worthless cocksuckers in business.. I'd rather deal with Western Union than Paypal again tbh... I'd rather be raped by mike tyson whilst on fire than use it.

Infact, i'd rather be paid in fcuking WHSmith vounchers, or those computers for schools vouchers, or walkers crisps vouchers, than fcuking paypal...

Just type "paypal account freeze" into google and you get millions of results, they've been sued thousands of times.

I don't understand that paypal somehow have the ability to freeze accounts for up to 180 days, for no reason at all... Or just because they think you're "dodgey".

I listed some stuff on there last week, and it got removed because I said "I do not accept nazipal, any payments made will be refunded, please use cash/bank transfer/cheque"

I re-listed it, and offered £20 cash back on anyone who pays properly. And that got removed too...
When I relisted the 3rd time, i've simply stated that "I accept paypal, but only if its the absolute last resort"

Paypal used to be ok on smaller cheap items, like a paintbrush or empty tin of coke. But who in the right mind uses *Email* as a medium to send someone thousands of pounds..

I've stated in my auctions that if anyone pays me using Paypal, the stuff will go nowhere until the money has cleared in my actual bank account, absolutley nowhere, they can leave as much negative feedback as they like - it won't matter.

I hope the new instant bank transfer system takes away most of Ebay's business... Lets face it, I've put in PCI DSS compliant networks for large financial companies, I know how this stuff works from a technology point of view. The banks spend millions on the latest security protocols, especially for the boom in online banking.. What do paypal use........ *email*.... Any banking system is as secure as its weakest point, which means the email and password..... Which do you trust?

All of my friends who use paypal - If I wanted to, I could gain access to their accounts within a week using simple oldschool methods, but it wouldn't be that simple with their bank accounts.

ebay and paypal are crooks BUT

make sure youre not going into a phished ebay site or reading some nigerian scammer's fake paypal emails that chat shit about their terms... ive seen that before where they demand you send an item before you receive payment.

Probably not that much difference between a Nigerian fake bank and paypal TBH. Infact, i'd rather give money to the Nigerian, as it could most likley be scammed back.
