I snuck out and watched the race live .
I don't disagree with you, but 0.02 is a long time when you consider that record had been standing for 12 years.
But when I posted, I was still buzzing from watching the race.
My use of language leaves a lot to be desired, I guess

Michael Johnson's record (19.32s) was set on a much faster track too. The record before MJ's stood for 24 years and was set by P Menna in 1972 at altitude (19.72s). Not all times are directly comparable.

Its funny you mention track conditions.
It has been stated the pool used in this Olympics is deeper than usual meaning less wake, meaning greater chance of breaking records.
Any truth in that?

Yeap. So much so in fact, that word has gone out to make the London 2012 pool the same depth. The middle lanes are also faster for similar reasons.
