From what I understand of the R35 DCT, the auto mode changes up at low revs and is purely for cruising. It doesn't do kickdown downchanges like a regular autobox as found on perhaps an Audi A8 or similar.

not sure i'm following you, maybe i'm reading it wrong.

the auto mode is adaptive and down shifts very quickly if needed. in R mode it will also hold the gear in the lowest possible but again, it's adaptive so if you're crawling in traffic it will adapt to this. so, put your foot down suddenly while in 5th gear at low speed and yes, it will downshift very rapidly. would be a pretty crap gearbox if it couldn't downshift....

mine goes in 6th at 28 but if you floor it it would jump to 2nd or 3rd depending on whats most appropriate near instantly

they use witchcraft as well, i cant catch mine out, if i go 1 2 3 4 you would think it would expect 5th next but if i go 2 its there instantly its witchcraft i say.

I know one thing i never ever want to own a manual again after DSG

Ah. I stand corrected. I watched someone driving one and they said that all it wanted to do was change up at 2500rpm.

mine used to do that, if im going with the traffic flow it swaps up as soon as it can, however mines learnt that if im wizzing along it stops doing this and hangs on to the revs for ages, like its running a custom sport mode made for me
