Honestly this is one of those questions, if you have to ask it, then you have your answer - no.

Would it be possible for an M800 to control the Engine ? Yes probably. Could it control the transmission, and give the right information out to the CAN bus to work the rest of the car ? Probably not.

The stock ECU is fairly sophisticated.

It probably could work in piggyback mode initially until they figure out where all the other control pins go to. But the Motec ECU isn't exactly unsophisticated either.

But for what it's worth, the kind of mods we are doing here can easily be achieved with a reflash (like from Amuse or MINES or Cobbs).

Plus the idling is a lot simpler to control and dial in on a reflash ECU.

Have you seen how many inputs and pins are on the stock ECU ? 128 . Twin throttle by wire throttle bodies , Intake cam adjustable timing, etc, etc.

The biggest issue would be if it were piggy back, how pissed off the rest of the CAN bus would be.

On the CAN / LAN bus are the ECM , TPMS , Transmission control , ABS Actuator , Power Control Bus, AWD control Unit , Airbag, Body Control Module , Meters , Suspension.

Eventually these things will get sorted out, but you will need a bit of time to make it all work. You need to make sure that the outs to the modules that want to see something are correct. Almost everything can come though the OBD II port.

Motec also runs on the CAN bus, if I remember correctly.

Motec has their own CAN. AKA it can talk to other Motec products. Dashes , power control modules.

Now getting that CAN, to talk to the Nissan CAN would be the trick. If the Nissan CAN doesn't see the ECU, it won't let the car move. Everything is so integrated in the new GT-R, the transmission wouldn't let you shift out of park.

Will people figure it out eventually ? Sure eventually. However just based on what I see with the 350Z, it took a long time to figure it out. Now you add a few more layers of complexity with the ATTESA, and the Transmission.
