High Performance Tour at Nobles in Edinburgh

Are any of you attending the Nissan High Performance Tour at Nobles in Edinburgh tomorrow night (19 August 2008)?

I'll be the guy that turns up in the tired, old, blue (okay purple) Supra (surprise, surprise) MK IV Twin Turbo. I'm about 6 foot tall, with glasses and dark, spikey hair.

I hope to meet a few of you there. Please come over and say hi!

Russ

I'll be there, I leave the country again tomorrow so only just making it. My son used my VIP pass to the British Motor Show and sent me loads of pictures. Can't wait to see it in the flesh myself.

Russ,

We met in the VIP bit at Excel just before you headed to the airport.

Looking forward to drooling over the car again tonight.

See you later.

As usual i was totally disorganised. So missed this thread.

Followed Russ most of the way there but I didn't see this thread until now or i would have come over.

Nice to meet Ally and some other guys who's knowledge and enthusiasm put me to shame.

As for me, i was in the very very old S3 with the knackered rear bumper (i've had the replacement in my garage for 6 months!)

Hello mate, I'm the one who you bumped into at McDonalds after the event, glad to see you on here aswell.

For those of you who may have spotted me, I'm one of the very few non-cacausian people that was there, 5ft6, bald shiny head with a neat beard.

Gotta say, I'm very happy with it, except for the fact that I've been told to expect it Summer 2010

Kevin, I saw your car but I didn't see you. Hopefully we'll meet up at a future event.

Did you? What car were you in? How was my driving? On second thoughts, don't answer that!

Damn. I knew I should have worn my GTROC polo shirt!

I think it's a shame that so many of us were there last night and we didn't all get to meet each other. We should be more organised next time and arrange to meet at a specific place and time or even post photographs of ourselves.

We should definitely all meet up once we've got our GT-Rs!

Did anybody notice that the two wheels in the tyre display were wearing Pirelli P-Zeros? I'm sure I saw this display at a previous event and the tyres were the expected Bridgestone RE070Rs. In fact, the text on the board behind the tyre display still referred to the Bridgestones. I know that Nissan have been using the Pirellis at the Race Academy, but I thought that was simply because they couldn't source a sufficient number of Bridgestones. I can't understand why somebody would go to the trouble of changing the display, especially since one of the wheels was cut away to reveal its internals, unless Nissan are considering changing the standard tyre. Interesting!

I was told that Pirelli had contract to supply the tyres for the race academy and ONLY the academy. They have made 1000ish for this purpose. I think it was to do with problem getting that many of the bridgestones or dunlops. My dealer stated this was a one-off production run.

Well that's what I thought, but why go to the trouble of changing the display?

Great if the Pirelli's give us a third choice in tyres and introduce some competitive pricing. Also means I don't have to bin my Pirelli watch and we'll maybe get some of those coveted calendars
