Garrett turbo power

I have been given a garrett turbo from a diesel engine, but it needs a rebuild and I want to know is it worth rebuilding.

The turbo is a To4b-09, p\n en2nn-6k682-bb, exhaust a\r is 0.84.
I'm not sure on the hp of it, but I would be fitting it to an rb30.

Any info really appreciated.

Well the exhaust housing looks pretty big compared to the standard rb25det turbo.

Also anyone got any info on a holset hc1 from a cummins diesel. There is a possibility I can get one of these.

Yeah, the whole turbo will be bigger than a stock RB25 turbo, and if it was off a huge old diesel the turbine side will be massive, but not what you want really, esp as the compressor isnt that big if its in a T04B housing.
Could well be 500bhp capable, but if exhaust housing is huge it wont be that great, and is pretty worthless regardless.

Thats an older style holset, but still decent, may be useable if the exhaust housing isnt a massive one. Pretty big tho, and again, not worth a lot and neither turbos are rare.

What sort of power you after?

I'm looking for about 400bhp at the wheels, but i'm not sure of the turbo I need.
I don't want to spend a crazy amount of money on a turbo.

Do you have any way of measuring the inducer of the compressor wheel (The wheel itself, not the intake) to give a clearer idea of what turbo it is? There are a few different TO4B compressors etc, most of the maps I have for them indicate the capacity to make over 400whp. A .84a/r T4 turbine housing in my opinion is not at all too big for an RB30DET aiming for that power level, I'm guessing its a twin scroll turbo?

Do you have any pics?

Here are some pics of the turbo.

This turbo needs a rebuild and I rang the local garrett dealer and he said they cannot be rebuilt. Is this correct.
