There are warranty companies out there willing to cover this car once imported to the UK.

why would they? the JDM car has japanese gps, buttons, ETC card slot, hard drive, everything. so, if they did cover it then how would they replace the broken japanese satnav for example?

if you buy a ferrari in italy and ship it to the uk, ferrari uk do not honour the italian warranty. same with nissan and most other manufacturers. it's a different car with some different parts.

Not strictly true. Cars purchased within the EU must have their warranty honoured by European dealers, whichever country it was bought in and then shipped to.

"European Law states that all European Union supplied cars come with an unlimited mileage 2 year Pan European Warranty from the supplying factory. "

Outside the EU though you are very much on your own....

are they going to release an official car in thailand though?

i'm just guessing by the statements from nissan uk that they will not give a warranty to imports that they're just playing it safe.

anyway, it's a cheap supercar that's selling like hotcakes. to be honest they can do whatever they want. if i was them i'd do the same.

Surely a Japanese import doesn't fall within (your words) "all European Union supplied cars "

Er, clearly.....

If you re-read my post you will see I was replying to the "ferrari bought in Italy not honoured in the UK" comment!

Nissan GB is under no legal obligation to honour a non-european warranty.
