Will it get to that point? Or will Nissan wave some sort of magical wand that can deter speculators?

Surely, if the speculator paid up, had the keys, nothing can stop them from selling the car to a 2nd buyer.

Is the a final contract to sign soon? I haven't been sent one yet!
I don't think Nissan will have any problem finding homes for cars that are effectively cancelled by changing the customer name!!

I got this interesting reply from them :-

As you know the Nissan GTR will be releasing in March/April 09, the
quickest slot i have is for July 09 delivery, but the car cannot have
sat nav on it. It can be to your exact desired spec, e.g colour,
options but no sat nav. Now this is UK supplied and NOT a grey import
from Japan, etc. Furthermore, you will be the 1st registered owner of
the vehicle

3 models you can choose:

Nissan GTR standard - £54,800 (UK OTR) + £1,500 premium

Nisaan GTR Premium - £56,100 (UK OTR) + £1,500 (which has bose, rain
sensors, auto headlights over the standard car)

Nissan GTR Black - £57,400 (UK OTR) + £1,500 (which has smoke grey
wheels, exclusive kuro black exterior as a colour option, exclusive
black and red leather interior, exclusive black headlining

Just to briefly advise on order process. If you want to proceed, i
will need to send you a Purchase contract, with terms, which i will
need sign and faxed back to me with a copy of your drivers lic. I
will then take the £1.5k premium to us, which i can take by card. I
will then pass you over to the official Nissan dealership we have this
slot with, you then pay them a deposit of £3.5k and also confirm you
colours, etc. When your car arrives, you just pay the remainder of
the UK list balance direct to the official Nissan dealership and
collect. Or we can deliver on a transporter but this will cost extra

Nice! So basically he's charging you £1500 to give you a dealers name??? Wish I'd thought of that one!! And why is he charging sat-nav prices for non sat-nav cars??

He takes £1500, the dealer takes the £1400 (difference in satnav vs non-satnav price)
