GTR servicing

Hi guys,

I live in Dubai and am going to import a GTR either from Canada or the States. The main reason is the local dealer price is about 60%++ over the US list price. The catch is that the dealers will not warranty the cars which I have no problem with, but they will not even service the car if I bring it into them. They basically want to protect their sales margin and discourage any grey market cars coming into the market. I'm not looking to modify the car right now and will probably leave it in stock form.

I know I should post this in the maintenance forums but its a bit quite there. My main question is whats the maintenance of the GTR going to be like? Is it as tricky as something like a Ferrari where only a few certified technicians are able to work on the car?

Also does the GTR need any special equipment or will the ECU plug directly into the standard ECU reading equipment for Nissan cars?

Any other information that would be helpful?

I know a guy who imported 3 US versions into Dubai (and sold them within a week). Will as him how his buyers are managing this.

Thanks Tom If you don't mind you have his contact details? I may buy a car off him directly if he has something in stock.

I just need to figure out the whole servicing issue.

if 60% is steep what do you think it would cost to get them in the usa let alone at cost and then importing fee's? alot of dealers are not selling at sticker price.

and then you get your warrantee if you buy it in your area.

this car is going to be expensive to maintain in my opinion. if its not a daily driver then not as bad. but still you will need to buy your own consult 3 then to diag any codes that popup, etc.

I figured out all the shipping costs and it still works out to be at least 50% cheaper than buying it locally. I know I will lose the warranty but not too worried about that I just want to get an idea of the maintainace.
