Oil catch tank,standard engine. Worthwhile?

Rb26 standard except for induction kit, decat, exhaust and running .95 bar boost.
Obviously it's gonna stop hot, slightly oily air being drawn in, so I'm gonna get cooler, cleaner air for better combustion, and less of the oily residue inside, but is it significant enough to matter?

I know a lot of guys running higher boost have them, but in all honesty, is it worth fitting a tank, or is it maybe some more blingy, silicony stuff for the engine bay?

Yes, well worth it. Your engine is less likely to suffer from Detonation as well.

when you look at the engine the righthand pipe that goes to the turbos did you block that pipe off ??

can't really see from your picture as if not the oil vapour will still get into the induction mixture

if you didn't thats probably why the idle is erattic the engine is pulling in air through the oil tank ...and the pipe going to the turbo is post the afm so the engine is taking more than the ecu thinks it is ..

I feel suitably daft now

Anyone know of a supplier who sells rubber caps big enough to close off the open ends of the 2 L - shaped connectors on the head, the nipple on the turbo inlet and the one between the 3rd and 4th injector???

Could just go mines oil baffels and this will reduce the need and keep the oil where it needs to be .. just my 2p

To my understanding oil catch cans where designed to keep oil off the track when engines have expired ..not say they don't look nice.

But Mines cam baffles do nothing for the underlying poor cam / crank breathing the engine has as standard.......and indeed contributes to some other RB oil related issues.

think i might alter the plumbing of mine a bit..as i have mine linked from the righthand breather to the tank and then back to the turbo.. i.e. as per factory standard but with the catch tank in line with the rear turbo breather.
I would guess at high boost oil vapour is going to be drawn through the catch tank and rear turbo back into the engine? Maybe I should vent it to atmosphere and put up with the smell?

on a releated note, what does the PCV do (i guess its a pressure control valve) does it allow the crank case to breath.. if so why are people blocking it off? surely you want the blow by gasess to be drawn out of the engine (so as not to pollute the oil) and off to the catch tank or to atmosphere?
