Robbed at Silverstone on 24th September

I have just got home from the afternoon session at Silverstone. At prize giving at the end, the winning Titanium team were given their key rings and applause for their winning average score of 87.09. My team (Pearl) got a sarcastic comment of "you were seventh out of four teams with your score of 67.35". Well when I left I picked up a results sheet, and our 4 drivers scored 88.20 91.42 89.80 and 91.37. My simple maths make that an average score of 90.20. Not only does this not make us "seventh", it actually made us first!

If there are any drivers on this forum from the Titanium team, you have got my key ring, and if any one from Nissan is reading this, you cannot add up. I will be checking my final invoice for the car very carefully!

Other than that, what a fantastic day.

As a member of the Titanium Team, I can recommend the key ring. I understand the Silverstone shops open on MondayJokes aside, I enjoyed the day and can't wait to have another opportunity to try another day. I've taken a load of pictures and will post them tomorrow

cheers

Stewart

I was on team Titanimum and your very welcome to my key ring , pm me you address and i'll pop it in the post. Was a good day though what ever (tho checking any of their maths seems a little out there, maybe they used the GTR calc, we all know how the GTR defies physics, maybe it defies maths too lol, i count 5 drivers in your team but still came out with 72ish?? WTF) would have been nice to just have had some time to just drive the GTR and not worry about staying on the black stuff lol

Agreed.

I spent most of my time concentrating on instructors advice, driving lines, braking points, apexes plus the added pressure of not wanting to look like a complete fool infront of everybody watching / including friends and family when i get home. Rather than enjoying the car if that makes sense. Dont get me wrong, i did enjoy the car totally but there was so much more for myself to take in that i could of been driving anything.

Just as i started to get somewhere near the car and my own limits (mainly my own btw), it was off to the next event. Was left wanting more more more, and if the opportunity ever arose to do it again i would jump at the chance and hopefully carry on where i left off.

Absolutely fantastic day, and with out a doubt the GT-R is an incredible car (but we knew this already).

Hats off to Nissan for organising such an event for us at an incredible venue.

Thanks for the offer of the key ring, but I don't really want it, I was more annoyed about the seventh place comment. There were only four drivers on the team. If you look at the score sheet, the fifth person was my wife. She wouldn't drive and was driven round at each event by an instructor, so her performance wasn't scored, and I stick by my maths. Nissan arrived at there result by taking the first three scores and dividing by four.

I agree with some of the other sentiments expressed in this thread, that it was difficult to evaluate the car while being pushed to concentrate on learning a circuit and take in the instructors training. The whole day felt like a day at Palmer Motorsport, which is probably not that surprising since the instructors all work for Palmer Motorsport. I would however add that the car must have been good, as I never managed to drive that well when I was driving the Porches and Jaguars at Palmer's. It was still a good day, but it would be nice to now try the cars in some different events.

Well I was in team Kuro and clearly we won........not by doing maths, just because we looked like the only team who had smiles on their faces ALL DAY! Not sure which team we swapped with at the 350 speed lap but they had faces like slapped arses! Jeez, some people never have any fun......

Anyway..

It was my first track experience and I'm still on a high. The GTR is fooking stunning. The laps around the track were phenomenal! The amazing thing is how good it makes you look as a driver. Every time I thought I'd messed up, it just pulled me out the corner and took off like a rocket.

5 hard laps and those brakes didnt feel any different.

Nissan better hurry up and organise some more track days (in their cars of course!) as I really cannot wait until July 09.

p.s. thanks to the boys from the KURO team for making the day even more fun. It was a genuine pleasure to spend the afternoon with you

Andy

p.s my car is definitely not brown!

I was on the Titanium team on Sunday p.m. also and I was grinning like a cheshire cat all bloody day (not sure who the miserable people were). It exceeded all expectations and I felt genuinely priviliged to be in the BRDC. Thanks to all on my team for making the day even more enjoyable, and sorry again for spinning off the track on my superpole timed lap - I thought it would ruin the teams' chances!!

Cheers, Charlie

I knew I should have swiped one of those keyrings when I had the chance Steve! Really enjoyed the day and the only negative really was that it was all over too soon

Cheers,

George

A keyring..., surely the experience was better and will last longer than a keyring will.

I second that Andy. Had a great day with team Kuro. the speed lap with the instructor was a real eye opener...an amazing car. I hope we get another chance to drive one before delivery - 10 months seems a long time.

BTW, apologies to the rest of team Kuro for being rubbish at most of the tasks!

p.s still not sure about the titanium (better than I expected) but sticking with the DMG

No need for apologies Mat, we were all ham-footed amateurs doing our best not to crash!

I really do hope the PR guy from Nissan GB takes the hint about more track days. I badgered him over and over again thru the day so hopefully it sank in!

Hi guys - another Team Kuro Sunday 24th PM smiler here.... just to echo previous comments I had a truly brilliant day out, my missus had to tell me to shut up at 1am when i was still prattling on about it ! ... I must admit that I tried not to let my competitive streak ruin it and did just try and savour the whole thing without trying to save 0.0001 seconds off a lap.... But heavens above was I rubbish at the drifting... got a 97 in one run by nearly spinning it, but ended with an average of 68... so how cr&p were the other two ? ... sorry guys !
As for Colours.... I'm a turncoat... having ummed and aaahhhd about the ultimate silver I've got ordered I think I'm moving ship to Team DMG ! Sorry Andy, no BROWN for me, although I have to say in the flesh it looks a heap (no pun intended) better than in the pics..
And yep I did some badgering too.... Donington would be awesome !
Roll on the next one...

Well i'm just jealous and wished i'd booked Silverstone now! I've got another 19 days to wait til my drive at the Nurburgring! It sounds like you were pushed to drive fast though which is good, I was worried it may be like some of these driving experiences you get where all the instructors are worried about clutches, tyres, too mant revs etc! Can't wait to drive the thing! Did anyone take their camcorder or bullet cams? Just wondered if they let you record your experience from in car?
