Unhappy is my gearbox crunching because new oil? HELP!

Hi

Ive got an r32 with 747bhp with an OS GIken 5spd box, i've only had the car since march and had no record of the gearbox oil being changed i had SILkOLENE syn5 75w 90 recomended so i bought it and had a garage change the oil whilst they give the car a once over. (and a dam good thrashing i found out, but thats a different story!)

Since they changed the oil my 4th gear has got harder and harder to get in when driving it fast. and now crunches unless i let the revs drop before shifting in. The garage said they only used 3Ls of my oil i bought.

Would this OIl be the cause of my problem? a friend recommended putting Redline Heavy 75w 140 to see if it made it better? as this oil would be more suited to my car?

any thoughts? thanks alot guys

Lloyd

i wouldnt hav thought your oil was the problem exactly, it just sounds like a worn synchromesh. Redline heavy would probably alleviate your prob a bit, but be warned its a pain in the ass untill the 'box has warmed up. it will probably be hard to get into gears when its cold but once its warmed up 3rd to 4th should be smoother again.
Its would be more suited to your car though...... sounds like a beast!!
