Extras...

is it still possible to do the silverstone track day experience if the gt-r is ordered now or was it for a certain few who ordered first?

Any orders placed now are likely to get delivery dates of 2-3 quarter 2010, so it is possible Nissan may run some events next year and in 2010 for those new orders.

The Nissan guy who organised the recent Silverstone events did not allude to anything being certain. Considering the cost of running these days there is every possibility that other free events may not happen.

However, as always only time will tell...

Like I said time will tell, but my gut feeling from having spoken to several people involved is that middle to late 2010 is far, far more likely.

Anyway, just get your dad to wait until middle of next year and pay a premium.....

I ordered on the very first day that the order books were open in April and I'm not getting my GT-R until December 2009, so "late 2009" seems very unlikely.

Can you elaborate a bit on what they told you?

Isnt that due to ordering with satnav?

Partly but dont forget there have been lots of orders since then. That would suggest it highly, highly unlikely that a new order placed over the next few weeks will be delivered anytime before mid 2010.

Absolutely. I understand the reason for my delivery date. September 2009 was the earliest I could have expected because I chose Sat-Nav. I'm just warning dilz87 that if he's been told that placing an order now might see him receive a car in "late 2009" then, as Charles Charlie says, that seems very unlikely. That would imply that there have been no orders in the last 5 months!

Unless, of course, there is some truth to what he's been told by Middlehurst about "extra orders". Can any dealers comment on this?

I ordered about a month ago, I've not had a solid date but was told Summer 2010 and that might move up if they get more production.

From what I understand the dealer is not relevant as they are allocated to a central waiting list not a dealer waiting list.

if i understood simon from nissan europe correctly (from when i spoke to him at goodwood), they are intending to put on more free track days for people who have ordered after the initial rush......not sure when. part 2 of race academy for those of us who've done part 1 or are doing it shortly will, he said, not be until after the next tax year begins
