Guest at Track day - what can he do??

Guys,

Maybe it is a little bit OT, but I need a quick answer.
As I am traveling to Nürburgring on October 6th and I am going there by plane (tickets, hotel...) I would like to know what a guest can do on a track day.
I want to know that cause a friend of mine who would come with me as a guest will go if he will be able to be driven around the circuit in a car (GTR/350Z whatever), but it is not worth for him (plane, hotel, 106€ Track day ticket) if he can only stay there and watch.
So, can someone tell me some official info?
Is the guest driven around the track or does he get some drifting with the professional driver, or a guest can just sit and watch...

Thanx

Clearly no-one can be sure exactly what will happen in Germany, but my mate came down to Silverstone last weekend...

All he got was lunch, a ride around in an X-Trail Nissan, one lap as a passenger in the drifting car with an instructor, and a passanger lap in a 350z on the "superpole lap".

All in all I was somewhat annoyed for my €100 or so.

Thought NIssan could have at least let him have a drive of one of the GTRs....

i thought they said we could pay to have guests as spectators, who get food and drink and get to watch the day....i thought any passenger rides were just a bonus really....i think i read somewhere that all in all it was costing nissan over 1000 pounds per invitee to hold the events

Suzafan, yes, I called the "conciergerie" (I don't know how do you say this in English, it's the number you can call for any question you have about your GTR and the events), and they told me that a guest can only sit, watch, and lunch with us !

Yeah, but you see that the guests are getting in the cars and some of they are driven around the track...

we're getting the track days for free..nissan aren't getting anything out of us in return for this....we have already commited to buy the car and if any of us dropped out i'm sure nissan could find plenty of takers for early delivery. if the organisers and professional drivers feel kind enough and have enough time available in their schedule to take extra people for rides in the cars then that's great but i don't think it's a right, not when nissan and the concierge have made it plain that the money for guests is to pay for hospitality and spectator opportunities

Quite agree....Nissan put on the event for buyers and obviously focused on driver. Buyer pressure made Nissan put on something for a guest but priced it to put most people off.....my son had a great time at Silverstone and had an SD card full of pics and breakfast/lunch/drifting/superpole lap and a great smile - money well spent

So, did your son come there as a guest? You are telling now tha the was going to drift/lap etc...
Can guest go for a ride or is a guest only a spectator??
Your final answer is...?

My girlfriend was at Silverstone with me on Monday and, although she really enjoyed the day, the only passenger experience she got was a single (40 second) lap in a 350Z. We were both slightly disappointed that she didn't get any GT-R time but she had an enjoyable day and was made to feel extremely welcome by everybody. She even spent some time in some sort of control room at Silverstone with loads of monitors watching us do our laps. None of the drivers got to do that.

from what i saw yesterday they are spectator.

if your lucky they might get a few passenger rides in the 350Z & GTR.

the lads that came along with other people had one passenger lap in 350z drifting and that looked like it only happened as we were waiting for the other lads on the shootout to finish.

they didnt get a passenger ride on the shoot out.

they managed a quick 20 seconds lap on the cone circuit

and nothing on the track session

so the cost of guest for what you get is well ott in my oppinion.
the cost of a meal, 1 minute at most in both cars and a few drinks and biscuits ??????????

Well I'm not going as a guest. I would if the track would be a local one and the only price to consider was the Nissan fee. But with flights and hotel I just don't think it's worth it. I'll have a closer look on the GTR when the High performance tour gets here in a couple of weeks. And I'll have plenty of time to drive it and sit as a passenger when the car is delivered to my dad in April
