Help!!!!

Woke up this morning and drove my car as usual and noticed a lack of power on boosting.

It has been running really well up to this point and I don't have a clue what it could be!

The car is standard apart from induction and exhaust. Its had a new coil pack - just before I bought it. Have only had the car about two weeks.

There are no obvious noises from the engine to suggest need for a rebuild and as far as i can see no pipes have popped or are leaking.

Its running on BP Ultimate Unleaded. Its almost like the turbos aren't providing much power. They spool up but don't seem to be making a whole lot of difference.

Any ideas? Please!

do you have an aftermarket boost controller installed? if so, check all the wiring to it, i had an A'pexi AVCr with loose wiring that when the wires to the display/control werent in the right place.. the car would defualt as a safety measure and means of protecting it self and FORCE the wastegates stuck open as to not run any boost... was a really frustrating problem and hard to find...

another thing i had experienced was the Boost pressure reader for the ECU itself.. if the little tube near your VIN plate isnt connected properlly to the pressure sensor... or if u have a leak in that tiny little vacuum line going to it.. this could also cause a problem, i would check those 2 things first.

Sounds like a boost pipe off somewhere or an intercooler pipe off.

Great Stuff:

Thanks for quick responses guys. I have no boost controller fitted yet - am planning that tomorrow! Have just bought the new HKS EVC unit.

I have been thinking that perhaps it is a pipe or something simple rather than anything catastrophic. Will check these things these things tomorrow and report back my findings. If anyone can thing of any other possibilities then please suggest so I can check tomorrow. Its possible that all the rain we've been having has got in somewhere I suppose!

Out of interest what should the standard boost gauge in the centre console be reading on acceleration / idle etc.?

well a little below zero on idle as theres negative pressure/vacuum... and it should rise to the maximum +0.7 bar on the boost gauge when accelerating past say 6k RPM

Hmm, the boost sits nearer -7 than 0.

boost should be at -7 at idle and boost up when driving to positive pressure. Again to me it sounds like boost is escaping somewhere, check the BOV's arent stuck open causing boost to leak off.

Oh no! Checked all the pipes for leaks etc. Can't find anything. At idle the boost is about -6.5. The turbos spool up but the car doesn't seem to continue building in power past 5000 rpm.

I am now looking for the LEDs on the ECU in order to do fault diagnostics.

I have located the ecu in the passenger footwell BUT like the threads say there aren't any LEDs or a 'Diagnostic Screw' I have removed the ECU and found two holes in the back of it, but still no screw or LEDs inside?!?!

Where can I get the fault codes from!!!!

If no boost pipes are loose then i'd suspect a broken exhaust turbine wheel on one of the turbos
