Stage 1 etc etc...
Ok, Been in the Skyline game now since december (lowly GTS-T!) and have done quite a bit (IMHO) to my wee rocketship.
However, I have a question. People often talk about Stage 1 this, Stage 2 that etc etc etc. Now, having looked around the net at various tuning houses (in the UK and overseas) I have come to the conclusion that I am somewhat confused over definitions. ie On some tuners websites stage 1 is defined as decat, induction, plugs and an exhaust. On other, it adds steel gaskets and possibly even internals. Oh, and some include increased boost yadda yadda yadda Now, obviously there isn't an 'official' (or is there?) statement of what each stage is, but what I want to know is what's the majority consensus? I am stage one to some, stage 1 and a half to others, and almost stage 2 somewhere else. Obviously it makes no difference to the car, I am just curious what people think. Kinda get the feeling that its just a case of each tuning shop/company creating packages and labelling them for those folks with cheque books bigger than mine. |

Stage 1 and friends
I tended to base my stage 1 opinion on the Abbey package list. It just seems to cover the relevant areas.
Some shops go stage 1 thru 7, or whatever. Personally, I consider stage 1 (on a GT-R) to be 400+ horse, stage 2 to be 500+ horse, stage 3 to be 600+ horse. Beyond that, packages become academic as the work has to be specifically tailored. |
