R33 GTR 1996 ECU Self Diagnostics Mode Question Needs Answering..
Hi Guys. I have spent ages tawling the web and this and other forums for an answer to this question but alas, no joy so hopefully someone can answer it as this would help others i'm sure...
The RB26 DETT ECU is located behind the passenger footwell kick plate. There are apparently three types of ECU for the RB26. 1. 2 LEDS (GREEN AND RED) with a diagnostics screw 2. 1 LED with a diagnostics screw 3. NO LEDs with a diagnostic screw. The Engine Check light on the dash board is used in place of the LED for checking the error codes. On the ECUs which have LEDs, you have to unbolt the ECU from its cradle as they are located on the back. You then turn the screw to change diagnostic modes and the LED will flash or something similar. This is all good and well BUT in looking at my ECU (yes unbolting it, turning it round even taking it apart) there is no screw and no LEDs!!!!! So presuming its the model without LEDs and it uses the dash light instead, how the hell do I engage diagnostic mode without that dam screw? Help!!!! |
