As far as I was aware the R34 GTR comes with the digital screen and the GTT comes with the 3 dials in the dash board.

Although I am currently looking at what im told is a GTT, but it hasnt got the dials it has a digital screen??? could someone have replaced the dials or can GTT's also come with screens?

does the screen kinda retract into the dash?
and does it display things such as boost and all that?

Yeah it does retract into dash...what does that suggest?
Havent seen what the screen displays yet, so not sure.

i think it might be the screen for the dvd player if its on top of the dash seperate from the cd player.
pretty sure it was an optional extra.

have you checked the engine to make sure the turbo is there?

Have just found out that there was an upgrade option where they put a screen in instead of the 3 dials. It can display stereo controls and sat nav etc but NOT the technical data like boost, G meter etc like the GTR.

so that sounds what it probably is

would defo need to see pics as the gtr comes with the dash standard and gtt has an optional dash but not the same as the gtr however it is possible to fit a gtr dash into a gtt pics would be a great help

Yeah thats definately a GTT...sounds the same as mine...retractable screen which shows the stereo controls and some radio stations i think...(in japanese so hard to tell!!)...

Below the heater controls is the radio and tape player and above the heater controls the cd player and screen controls...

It should be satnav as well as i got all the japanese instruction books and disks for mine with the manuals when i got the car...

cheers Bertman, so is the screen thing pretty much useless if you cant read japanese? or does it come in useful for somethings?

bass line...thats a good question...it was useful for about a year when i could play cds on it and the stereo controls would come up on the screen...

now its just a temperamental bugger...the screen pops up of its own accord and just diplays the same screen all the time...i might have pushed a combination of buttons one day and locked it or something...not sure...but its pretty much useless...i was also told its not possible to adapt it to a european satnav...

so basically...if ya lucky...or you can read japanese...it could be useful...

have also seen your posts about fitting a new cd player, they were very useful mate. if all goes well I should have the car in a week or so, so might be asking you a few questions relating to this if thats ok.

no problem mate...the really useful stuff came from those people who replied...but any questions just ask...

i think if you really knew your elctronics or know someone who does you could probably use the screens mechanism and wiring and fit your own screen for whatever you want to use it for...
