nicking valve caps...

...surely that was so 90's!??

I had some simple yet nice polished alloy valve caps on my wheels that matched the polished valves: http://www.zen87038.zen.co.uk/DSC_0053.JPG

Some little ******* have nicked 2 of them.

Mainly a rant! But if anyone knows where to get some similar replacements please give me a shout!

One of my customers cured this by sticking the caps on with glue, Absolutely fine untill a tyre went flat....

Tighten them up with pliers, but make sure you keep the pliers in the car with you in case you need to inflate the tyre. And use some tape on the jaws of the pliers to stop the caps being marked/damaged, or put a bit of rag round the caps and then use the pliers on them.

I forgot to mention, You can get caps now that have a small allen stud in them to stop casual thieves taking them... Just nip them up with the lock screw and keep the key on your keyring or in the car.

I've had the ones with the stud - still got nicked. Got some new shiny alloys for my daughter's car - chrome valve caps came with them. One night on the town in Nuneaton, Home of The Inbred, and they were gone too.

My local mobile tyre fitter said he caught some little ten year old scrote nicking his caps - scrotes attitude was that my tyre fitter had a tyre business so had lots of caps, so it was ok!

Apparently the little barstewards steal them for their push bike valves (which is why you've only lost two... so far... !!!!

I reported mine to the police not that they stand any chance of getting them back, but it will push the crime figures up for that area and in turn the insurance premiums.
So when the time comes for the transition from push bike to first car

Some nice ideas there

All in all, it serves me right taking the car to Fareham to visit a friend. I should have stayed in my own neighbourhood (valve caps are way too small time, all they care about round here is stealing cars!)

Anyone know where I can get some similar replacements?
