R35 = new When the next Ferrari/Lambo etc comes out it will be that that gets the attention. There aren't very many R35s on the road at the moment so of course they will turn heads when one drives past |

What have you been drinking .. Better built than a Porker..... I think (and know) not... bits don't come off in your hand on a Porker, they do and have done with me on the new GT-R... And the GT-R is Nissans top model... Are you saying a Carrera GT doesn't turn heads... The money part I agree, but the cars I have driven have had problems (most of them press cars) and they are serviced EVERY night.... Porsche's are a bench mark, the 911 is a dinosaur, but still a very very good car - the GT-R beat the 911 turbo around the Ring, hats off to the GT-R. Time will show the true test of the GT-R, a good car it is yes, and the 911 still is a very good car and I would imagine Porsche will bring out something even quicker soon, but to compare build quality, what percentage of GT-R's are still running after 25 - 30 years??? Exactly. It's a subjective assessment. What is 'class' even? Class to one person is crass to another. Some people, rich people even, see owning any kind of flamboyant car as utterly distasteful. It's completely subjective.

i'd say this car has pedigree
it is going to be exclusive; UK Aston Vantage sales - 3000 units a year vs GTRs 700 ?? Porkers - everywhere BM M cars - need I say anything As for class... it is a definitive performance car |

What i love about the GTR is that its anti establishment. Its a bit of an upstart. I currently have a 911. In fact my last four cars have been Porsche's. Those who know me are divided in my change of car. The badge snobs cant believe it. The petrol heads totally understand it. I regularly entertain clients and to be honest i don't take my Porsche to the new customers. The Porsche can appear brash. From that respect i think the Nissan will have more acceptance. I did chose my car in dark grey. I think this is better for me in my position. In terms of quality, i think the 997 has a much better finish (especially inside) however the Nissan is much better that my old and original 996. That could rattle and whilst nothing ever fell off, you wouldn't say it was BMW quality. Does it have the class of the German marques? possibly not. But i think the GTR has deep respect, even by those who have to drive a badge.

I have to say this although most of you have a valid point...
The reason you see so many Porsches at posh events is because its a fine car that has been around for 40 odd years... The reason you don't see GT-R's is because the car sells to a different kind of person, and haven't been around for more than 10 years. I have a Porsche, a Ford, Vauxhall, and an Audi... I can bet if I turn up in my Audi it will turn more heads (petrol ones) than any other car, and will be the only RS4 there (unless it's an Audi meet) thats because they only imported about 400 cars. i have never had the BMW or Porsche key thing, I buy a car because of what it does and because I like it.. Bugger everyone else, if they don't like it then thats fine. The Nissan GT-R is a very good car, but Nissan doesn't have a pedigree (yet) if you are buying it to look flash, then take it down to the Scooby boys they will love it, but don't take it to a Golf Club they won't know what it is... Most people with money only buy a car because of what they have heard or because it's expensive and then will not use the car for the purpose it was built.. Buy the GT-R, drive it like it was meant to be driven any enjoy the pleasure... Sodd the badge snobs, smile as you drive past, but respect the cars there in not necessarly the drivers. R. |
