This isnt arsey, lol and its not that i dont like the answers, i just understand them. R33 gts-t made a statement of fact, that 5.5k will buy a piece of crap basically and i wondered how buying a 10k car would solve the problems he said might be wrong with it?
I only asked a question because that answer was pretty blunt. Still no answer tho. |

You guys are funny but tbh, if i wanted comedians id go see one. You still fail to assure me how paying more for a car makes it better, more reliable, less likely to go bang?
Do me a favour, put your egos and your jokes back in the cupboard for 5mins and lets all have an adult chat about it ![]() I assume youre all old enough to drive so being adult shouldnt be too much of a problem. Please dont take this the wrong way and then throw my humour back in my face later on, im just defending my corner. |

The simple, straight forward unarguable fact is that if you buy an R33 GTR for £5.5 you will almost certainly be looking at a big bill very soon.
If you spend proper money on a car with history and documentation you are *far less likely* to have that big bill comming your way. The thing worth considering is that breaking a R33 GTR will net you more than £5.5k if so to sell a working one for that would be madness. There are no garantees in life but you do get what you pay for.... Simon

deffinatly dont go for the cheap option as i regreted that once too few years back when i got my R32 GTR for £5400 .
wasnt bad but wasnt a clean example but was to happy to get one and was blind from that reason and 2 weeks later the the engine was in need of a rebuild and cost way too much for my likeing . wish i went to my most recent tuner first lol as i would have saved some money . try get one with good history in reciepts for work carried out . |

lol, I wasn't trying to be smart, I thought after all thats been said he may appreciate a straight answer, maybe a poll would have been a better option to save all the "love" being thrown around.
Rob

In no way did I mean you were being smart Rob, it was meant exactly as I typed it... a straight answer to his question. if a poll goes up and one of the choices is 'NO' then I'll vote for that along with you.

In japan
Top sub 10000km R33 GTR from 1997 go for more then 3.500.000Yen Top sub 40000km R33 GTR from 1996 go for more then 2.800.000Yen Top sub 60000km R33 GTR from 1996 go for more then 2.300.000Yen Good sub 80000km R33 GTR from 1995 go for more then 2.000.000Yen Good sub 100000km R33 GTR from 1995 go for more then 1.800.000Yen every thing else is crap, don't ask for it. Good R32 GTR by the way start at 2.000.000Yen as they are more sought after then the R33s. A 14000km 1994 R32 GTR V-spec II was recently for sale at 3.000.000Yen I let you make the conversion. You get what you pay for. I could also buy an R34 GTR with 130000km on the clock for only 2.800.000Yen . .but would I? |

i`ll try and answer.... lol
can you buy a R33 GTR for £5.5k in any condition - yes if you looked hard enough, but as R33 GTS-T said, it will be a shed in all honesty. so if you just wanted to know that, and are happy with that answer, my question to you is why wouldnt you double that to go and buy one from a memmber on here say, who has many posts and you can investigate for yourself, the issues/problems that member has had with his car to see the history as and when things happened? Its a buyers market at the mo and im very tempted to take mine off because i refuse to let mine go for silly money. There are some good ones on here going for about the £8.5k and upwards mark. Your other question of "how can you tell one thas a `minter` wont blow up too?" - well you cant really as you never know whats gona happen tomorrow, however there is a FAQ thread on here which gives you hints and tips of what you need to look out for when buying a GTR. Oil pressure is probably the main, checking it when cold, warm and warm on idle will indicate if the engines good. but then if a new owner bys a `minter` from a forum member say, doesnt warm it up right on his first drive as he wants to play, rants it and blows it, he`ll come on here saying how crap it was blah blah, but fail to mention he limited it in nearly every gear because he thought it would satnd up..... always two sides to a story. When looking for a GTR, dont buy the first one you drive, go for a drive in - even bad ones feel good once your on boost. When you buy a performance car like a GTR, you HAVE to do your homework or you will just be giving money away and having to fork out for the mistakes later - which could be a few hours later if your not careful. I wish you good luck on your search mate, and also look forward to my question being answered. |

example of the type of 33 gtr you would get for £6k. Nissan : Skyline R33 GTR 2.6 Twinturbo V-Spec
example of a 33 gtr available in japan for £5.5k NISSAN SKYLINE GT-R BCNR33 1995 also, (and ill probably get flamed for this) up here there are loads of people being laid off, mainly builders etc. i have no doubt that if they owned a skyline they would be able to afford the repair bills etc whilst in employment. once that employment ends though, to shift the car quick would mean to sell it cheap. the way things are, im sure you will find a desperate seller and bag a bargain. it may be different round the country but up here the building trade especially is really getting hit hard. it also seems harder in general to sell cars up here for some reason. |
