Thanks Mava, its true, i have a friend whos just been laid off from building
and the knock on effect is inevitable.I have a sneaky feeling some of the replies have been from owners who are trying to protect/justify high prices in the current climate. Im not trying to snatch a bargain from anyone, im in the same boat, trying to sell my car, probably for what it was worth 6 months ago. Ive come to the conclusion (hence my original post) that car prices are falling at a stupid rate and probably its more serious than you would like it to be, but you cant argue with advertised prices and just because something is cheaper, doesnt mean its crap, although you would obviously have to be more careful. Im also not stupid enough to sell my car for less because of this and then pay big money for a GTR. Why should the GTR hold its price when everything else is dropping like stones. Sorry to all the head in the cloud GTR owners who still think their car is worth more than the current market value, no doubt there are people out there who will pay big money, but there are alot more people who a) havent got the money and b) if they have, dont want to spend it on a luxury they could do without. As an example, there is a nice looking EVO on Ebay at the moment for ALOT less than many others, shame its just over my budget but its proof that car prices have fallen. DONT CLICK IF REALITY HURTS |

You're not really comparing like with like though, you've just linked to a 130k miler Evo!! That wouldn't have been worth much 6 months ago either
A low mileage TME would still go for noticably more cash than that Those who really look after and cherish their car will just buy a 500 quid shitter to get them through the current situation rather than lose thousands just to sell quickly |

also worth noting that my 32 gtr was valued at £1950 by the insurance assessor last year when some numpty reversed into the wing. i know it wasnt immaculate but it was bloody tidy.
anyway, parkers guide price for a uk r33 with 100k miles is: dealer £9195 private good £8510 private poor £6455 trade in £7060 shame they dont do import values but generally imports were slightly less with other cars. |

£6.5k is enough money to buy a really nice R33GTR if you look in the right place!
I have mine for sale on here R33 GTR - HKS Turbo's - very good condition £6500 and it really is mint. It's a good quality low millage car with HKS turbo's and a brand new clutch. I need to pull my money out of it and it's for sale, for what it owes me. There is nothing wrong with it, runs really well and does the job. Any inspection welcome ![]() So yes, £6.5k will buy you a really solid R33GTR if you look in the right place |

Just to go against the trend I actually think that it might be possible.
Particularly at the moment, loads for sale and possibly some desperate sellers.I also think spending twice that doesn't 'guarantee' a car that won't go pop - but I do think it is likely that a car sold for £5.5K will have been skimped on in some quarters. As always, you pays your money you takes your chances. ![]() T

If I were to start over I would buy a nice 33 GTR with decent bodywork, some uprated ecu, suspension etc. but which had a blown engine. Reckon £5.5k may buy something like that if the seller was desperate. Then I'd build an engine from scratch and stick it in. That way you'd end up with a nice car built to the spec you want and with a warranty on the engine. Cost may end up at 10-12K but it's the only way to really know what your getting.
Plus, if you can build your own engine then this would obviously be a lot cheaper. But I agree that £5.5k will buy you nothing more than a liability if you expect to get a running car for that amount. |

Not being funny but you took that car in as a px 1 week ago and therefore know nothing about it.Are you actually using it or is it just parked up waiting to sell?? Sure it looks ok but whos to say? |

Well spotted and Well said TREG. And its not the GTR owners trying to push up the prices anyway because i for one would not sell my car if i was offered double youre budget.
I dont need to sell and dont want to, i suspect like a lot of people on here i prefer to own a GTR to any other and i would only ever sell mine for an r34 or an r35. so i couldnt care less what people like you think gtrs are worth as I dont need the money and will have mine a lot longer than any credit crunch stays with us. not everyone is skint and cant pay the rediculously high mortgage they got into. |
