Angry where to get turbo re-furbed?

Hi guys,im in need of some help. I bought a set of 2nd hand HKS 2530s from Jps Trading that had supposedly only done 4000 miles on them, earlier this year. I had Garth at MGT racing fit them back in May.Since then ive covered bout 2-3000miles on them and ive looked after them. Today on way home from work doin bout 20mph in traffic it started spluttering a bit and whiteish smoke comes from the exhaust as you rev it.Anways ive got home checked it out and you can hear 1 of the bearings in the turbo rattling about like a bag of spanners. I know that i cant get any come backs with Jps trading regretfully. So im left with 2 options, buy a brand new set of 2530s (which i cant afford) or get the knackered turbo re-furbed. Can you guys recommend the best places to get the knackered 1 re-furbed and costs involved ? Please help a very sad and skint Dazman I was supposed to go a meet in it tonight aswell so im really feeling a downer

as said on the other site, you shoudl be able to have one re-cored and the "good one" refurbed by Turbo Dynamics.

I know TT is doing that with my old 2540s.....

You cannot have the 2530's rebuilt. Parts do not exist. You can purchase complete new CHRA's from HKS.

As Neil stated above I'm going to be refurbing a set of GT2540's. Phoned Owen Developments and they were most helpful. Quoted me a rough price of £250 to bring the good one back up to new condition and about £650 to repair the knackered one.

Hope that helps...I dont see why they wouldnt refurb 2530's

I would also recomend Owen developments as they are very helpful and straight talking.

when I had some turbos inspected they gave me feed back once stripped and then didn't charge me as it was just an inspection and advice on what to do next.

Also these are the guys that mitsubishi intrusted to help develop there FQ400 .

Update; ive phoned Turbo centre, turbo dynamics, owen developments, turbo technics and Aet engineering they ALL said that these turbos can be re-furbed without any problem. They all quote roughly the same starting price but evidentally cant give an exact costing without the turbos. The turn around is about the same aswell. So all ive got to do now is decide which to pick? And find someone to remove and re-fit me turbos cheap :-) Mgt have quoted me £490 + vat thats who i usually use but could do with it being cheaper than that :-(

These guys can get hold of brand new CHRAs for about 400-450 quid
BANZAI PARTS GARAGE
Newera seem to have a good relationship with all the Jap manufacturers so Matty should be able to get you one for less I'd have thought

Just on the upside of you getting them fixed, if its looking around £800+ for that why dont add an extra £150-200 and buy a set of new 2860-5's?

Also do you no if you had an oil-restrictor fitted in the oil lines to the turbo's? HKS 25/30's dont like lots of oil!

Cheapest i can find garrett 2860-5s at the moment is £1,150 with import duty. Turbo Dynamics have quoted £195 + vat to re-furb good turbo and upto £450+vat for damaged turbo.Which =£770 inc vat worst case scenario,so theres a minimum of £400 difference, which at the moment is swaying me towards the re-furb cause i got put it all on tab
