GT2860R -5 Power?
Hi i´m Leif from Sweden.
I have my RB26DETT in the enginedyno right now taken care of by one of Swedens best tuner. I just changed my GT2871R for smaller GT2860R -5. Cos i did not get satisfied with the spoolup and it made alot of surching. But it made good HP. Now í am curious of what you different people with different setups got out of your machines that have GT2860R -5 mounted? If you want please wright if you made any major mods more then turboswap. My engine has: Tomeimanifolds and elbows. Ported cylinderhead tomeisprings and titanchims. Modified intake. Mines spec camshafts. AEM ecu. etc..... I will be back with the results from the enginedyno when it´s done. Please give me something to compare with.. Regards leif |

between 600 and 700bhp. If you use race gas, water injection, and run the turbos at 2 bars or more, you'll get more power, but your turbos will last maybe 15,000~20,000 miles before requiring replacement.
Conservative power will get you 580~600bhp, but you'll get more life out of the turbos, and you can make this power on pump gas. With correct mapping, 2860-5s can spool as fast as stock turbos. |

How much boost pressure do you push your turbos?
My thought is to make maybe 1,8 bar. My engine made 470hp on 0.76 bar boost when i run the GT2871R in the enginedyno. Last edited by leffan; 20th September 2008 at 10:31 AM. |

I have Tomei cams and cam wheels, 550 inj's, Power FC with 25t AFM's, JE 87mm pistons, Trust 100mm Intercooler, Big radiator, Nismo fuel pump, Nismo Oil Pump, N1 water pump, Top Secret exast Manifolds, HKS Dumps, and my -5's have the HKS exast housings added to them from my old HKS 2530s) Still have stock head with new valve guides. ...Not so much the the HP that I like about the car, it's the response, It is almost always on boost! It does drink a bit of gas now, as the cam timing is quite advanced, It idles like a rotary, But after just getting back from a "spirted drive" tonight I can't wait till I take it to a track day!
