Making Hay

Seen as you British can't even be relied on to put on a decent summer, I thought I'd better get busy while the sun shone today...!

Finally sorted out all the eybolts for my harness - including drilling the drive tunnel. Bloody Nissan - whay make that one bolt a different size?

Then I set about installing my Shift-I shift indicator. Been lying about for ages, and I thought I'd better get on with it now.

Really nice little unit, and a doddle to install - only 3 wires - +ve, gnd, and rpm feed. setup is pretty easy - you can set when you want the first light to activate, and when you want it to indicate the shift (all the lights flash madly - like the F1 displays do). Very cool.

I've set it to activate when I hit peak boost at 400rpm, and flash for shift at 7250. I'll mess about with the the shift point at Snetterton tomorrow.

Couple of pics:

Found a youtube vid of the thing in action (on an r32, not on my car. He's got quite a high activation and shift point set.):

And a bit more detail of the various bling modes!

mmm. not sure if the youtube embed thing is working.

Squaredeals Motorcycle Accessories (triumph-online) - they're quite popular with the motorbike and locost boys.

Only got two hands - one is for my mobile, and the other is for my cup of coffee. I get by balancing the map on my knees, but don't think the camera will fit between my teeth

nope, not for me. makes me feel like those japanese cartoons that give people epileptic seizures - all that blinking would likely hypnotize me and I'd end up NOT shifting!!
