Here is a good comparison with and without V-Cam, All in all I think it is worth it if you can afford it!

Neil, Jae has Vcam. Do a search on his posts. It's pretty impressive when set up and he only has it on a 2.6.

I considered it when I rebuilt my engine, but a couple of things put me off. 1 was £££s, lol, 2 was that I believe you sacrifice a fair bit of top end RPM. As my car is primarily track and nor road, that didn't make much sense. I like revs.

I think we when spoke about the kit the only kit available was the Step1 kits , you can still special order the Step 2 kit comes with a 260deg 10.2 cam. not a bad spec but you need to run Step2 HKS valve springs and modify the head to run the extra lift ( HKS use STD size base cam circle) so you need to remove material from the head to allow the cam to spin. Dont think your head has this done to it as you was running tomei Step 2 cams before, so the head ould have to come off I am afraid. Neil it would help ,but I am sure a little work on the cam timing/mapping on the dyno will help you out , what rpm does your car pull good boost from (say 1bar)? |

Nissan Skyline GT-R - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Quote: The engine corrected the R32's weak oil pump drive collar, which tended to fail in higher power applications, with a wider collar. The R33 engine also introduced a mechanical advance on the intake camshaft improving torque slightly. The base model R33 GT-R weighs 1540 kg.[1] Seems it needed that extra weight for more reliable parts. Last edited by chrisbeau; 24th September 2008 at 05:25 PM. |
