any audio guys can help me please.

hi, i have a 4 x 50 w head unit fitted and my 33gtr, my car came with a six speaker kenwood system as std, there is an amp in the boot next to the battery and the problem i have is that even on low say number 2 vol its loud, very loud, is there a way to remove the amp power from the sytem but still retain the speakers without having to strip the cars interior out..cheers bernie

Is there a volume control on the amp? If not, check the HU manual (should be on line) and see what controls there are for the pre-outs.

Must be some control somewhere.

Oh, and I reckon you're the first person ever to complain their car stereo is too loud!

If you can, post some piccies up of how the 'speakers are wired to the amp and any controls/connectors on the amp.

I'm totally sure it can be sorted without having to ditch the amp or rip the interior apart.

Looks almost standard (i.e. oem) - not sure as I haven't seen the standard amp before.

If the HU is new but the amp OEM it would explain why it doesn't like it much I guess.

thats it ru, the original hu was a radio/cassette,with a 6cd changer in the boot. i replaced the hu with a cd/dvd player with built in amp, not really thinking but when on low you can hear feedback from the amp..

if its the same as the 32 the wires are quite straight forward and just need to be connected together, mine has a cool little bypass connector which does the trick, maybe available from nissan? if not it just has speakers in (only rear i think on mine but left, right + -) and speaker out, left right +- power, ground and turn on. obviously no need for power and ground to be connected to anything (just blanked) and just connect the ins and outs together.
thats only if its the same as 32 mind which i would have thought it would be, may just find more wires if it does front speakers too.

The problem you have is your OE head unit would have had only a low level preamp output going to the amp, where as your new head unit has the 50x4 internal amp going to the out board amp....So effectively you were amplifing an amplifier....Hence the low volume number and loud sound.

If you wanted to run the out board again, you could use a low high to low level convertor, or your new head unit should have RCA outputs that can be converted to run into the amp.
