Hi guys.
I have been browsing through the forums for a while now and there is some great info, advice and experiences listed throughout it in several areas. I am new to the forum and this is my first post. I am on the brink of selling my Honda DC5 Integra Type R and replacing it with a GTR33. I have had experience with other turbocharged Jap cars, such as RX7's, etc.... but never Skyline's. Always wanted a Skyline and looks as though that is going to happen. Taking the plunge! I was using my RX7 and then my DC5 as my daily driver car... but covering 2000 miles a month in work mileage (commuting only)... is a tad heavy on the old wallet in terms of fuel, maintenance and depreciation of a vehicle. The DC5 has been a great commuter due to good MPG for a sports car... but I know the Skyline would not be so lenient... therefore, in preparation for getting hold of a GTR... I have just bought a Transit Connect Diesel as my work vehicle which leaves the GTR as my weekend toy. I have been quite lucky in the fact that I have been able to insure both the van and a GTR (limited to 3k miles PA) for the same amount that I am paying on the DC5 a year... and the same for road tax. I just wanted to say hi to you all and introduce myself before posting away on the forum. Cheers guys, Kyle. OK... first question... the GTR33 I am looking at has Nismo down-pipes, a custom de-CAT and an Apexi CAT-back system among a whole host of other parts. The owner would be supplying me with the OEM CAT for MOT time... but the chance has arisen for me to purchase a very rare Apexi racing CAT. This was removed from a GTR32... what I want to know is... would this GTR32 CAT section be compatible with a GTR33? Or do the two GTR's have different profile CAT and de-CAT pipes and not cross-compatible with each other? Thanks in advance! ![]() |

Welcome to the forum. I`d take the standard cat. I`ve had a raing cat before and it was useless at mot time.

Thanks for the reply.
By useless... do you mean that it did not help the car pass emissions testing? Or loss of power was too great? I was thinking of ditching the custom de-CAT and the OEM CAT section and just having the Apexi CAT fitted permanently to save messing around each year. Are the R32 and R33 CAT section profiles the same / cross compatible? |

Fair points.
Good to know that the two models of GTR share the same profile of that section - allowing inter-changeability. hodgie... what brand of racing CAT was your experience with just out of interest? Sounds as though it could be a total waste of money then. |

Not all racing CATS are the same though. You need to look at cells per inch (typically avail as 100/200/300) and get some idea of the overall size.
I'm hoping the dirty great thing Abbey fitted for me is doing it's job ![]() |
