Cooling panels

What the theory for these?

to lower water temps, or I/C temps?

so many people have them, but do they actually make any difference?

I think both..... meant to stop cold air coming out from the top by blocking it and forcing the fresh air going directly into the intercooler and radiator...... thats my understanding...

I think most people buy it mainly to just bright up the look of the engine bay though..

The theory is to only allow flow through the cores. High pressure air sits in front of the car and will travel into any low(er) pressure area ie your engine bay. If a nice low pressure area is available above or below the cores then it'll go there too. If the only route to the engine bay is through the 'cooler cores then you get more airflow.

A longer undertray should also help.

Send a message via MSN to r33 v-spec
Mine's were claiming a figure which will probably be on their site.

Although I have one I'm still undecided!

Though they aren't about cooling panels these two articles (parts 1 and 2) perhaps explain what's going on (better than the garbled mess I wrote above):

Browser Warning

After having a look at the fairly poor efforts on the front of my car I'm planning to find some sort of undertray for the front of my car.

I must say I'm surprised that some enterprising sort isn't manufacturing panels for either of these jobs. The Japanese stuff is a silly price, £150 for a small piece of shaped ally is silly.

Maybe time for RIPS or similar to develop something?

yeah they increase the underbonnet temps

They direct more air through the rad and lower engine temp but that means more hot air blown around under the bonnet to be sucked in by the air filters

That and a ally rad upped my underbonnet/inlet temps by 10 degrees

Look cool though
