Electric Radiator fan

I was looking at doing this mod myself and after going through the "Lets see your engine bay" thread I realised not many people have done this mod. When my car was off the road I pulled the fan off and it is quite a heavy item. So i guess my question is why dont people do it and is there any realy negative effects on putting say twin 12 inch or a single 16 inch electric fan behind your radiator and getting rid of the heavy bulky clutch fan?

I would be interested to know what the benefits of the clutch fan are as well if anyone could enlighten us?

happy to Adrian! Clutch fans will push a heck of a lot more air through than electrics - and I guess the biggest reason people don't convert to electric fans is you need to then buy a fan controller - as the ECU does not have this function - which also means plumbing in a temp sensor in the top rad hose etc etc - so for maybe 2KW gain, you have to spend a whole bunch of $$$$ - and there are probably better gains to be had for the money!

I run electic fans on my car with a manual override and separate electric water pump. Or at least I will when it's back on the road That will allow me to coole water and pump it around the system when the engine is off. Ideal for hot track days.

Any chance of some pics??? How much did it cost you? what size fans did you use? Did you notice much change in the response of the motor?
