How much does low offset and wide
Wheels affect the GTR's handling?
e.g Has anyone had stock offset then got wider wheels and lower offset or just adding spacers found any handling differences, if so were they good or bad? cheers |

not on a GTR, but on a previous subby I went from stock 15"s to wide, low profile 17"s - didn't hurt the handling at all - but you could certainly feel the difference - more precise etc and in a tight corner @ medium speed you could feel the tire lifting off the tarmac slightly (hard to explain...)
theoretically, but reducing offset (all other things being equal) should make it handle better as you've effectively widened the track slightly - which also increases stresses on wheel bearings etc - as do spacers - which is why they need to be certified here. Having said that, introducing spacers alters track (as mentioned) and ergo the overall geometry as your steering pivot points remain the same - so massive spacers will make the steering feel a bit funny as the wheels turn in a slightly different arc etc. but remember, unless you put MASSIVE spacers on it, it should all be small differences.... |

I just went from the standard 245/40/18 ET30 to 265/35/18 ET20 on my R34, so effectively adding 20mm each side (I think). As above, the changes are minimal in terms of general feel, but it does seem to be a bit more stable in the tight turns on track. The main difference though is the look. My wheels now fill the arches and give the whole car a lot more of a chunky low-slung look!
