CD ERROR really pissing me off!

Hello everyone

I have just installed a Sony CDX-S2000. Everything is fine, I have power and the radio works but the CD player will not play any CD's, originals or copies.

When the CD is inserted it just comes up with "error".

Any help you can offer would be very much appreciated.
Thanks

Vin

Does the CD drive have a drive lock or similar to prevent damage in transit? Would probably be a small screw that needs loosening on the base. But the instructions should make specific reference to it.

I don't think so. I did have a look through the manual but that doesn't ring any bells. I shall have another look.

I might try a cd cleaner too.

Pisslips! CD lens cleaner didn't work, just did the same thing - ERROR

Plus there is no screw jobby.

Gash. It must be cream crackered.

few things to try Vin
1) grab a ballpoint pen & on the front left, behind the facia panel - press the reset button.
2) disks go in label side up (you never know )
3) Does the error message flash for about 5 secs then an alarm sound is heard? If not then the unit could be duff

Cheers Chilli

1) I have reset the unit countless times now
2) Kiss my ass
3) The message "ERROR" appears for a few seconds then it beeps a couple of times before ejecting the CD

I think I'm going to take it apart.

Just bought an Inphase. Anybody heard of them? It seemed like a good deal. Front aux and front USB with full Ipod control, 60 watts. £80 all in with a free Ipod lead.
