John

Can the q8 that is outstanding be amended to ask why the online brochure that has been available until a few days ago contained nothing about warranty restrictions with VDC off - in fact it said something along the lines of "when the driver doesn't wish to utilise the onboard safety systems" or very similar.

Also, how is "proof" of failure going to work in practice??

John - thanks for obtaining all the other info - it is very useful and on the whole I am very happy about the changes (esp rims) but this point is really bugging me!

If I drove with ESP/TC off in my M5 then that didn't effect my warranty!!

David

I can answer that question. The updates osted here have only just been signed off and we received copies of them within hours of them being agreed and even beofre the official Press Release. Thus, up until that point, that was indeed the case but the wording has now been changed to, hopefully, clarify the situation.

I really think that there is an issue here that you are not acknowledging, or for PC reasons are refusing to do so publicly - sorry but that answer really is right out of Gordon Brown's spin factory.

For the best part of a year, VDC off on the world GTR site has not mentioned warranty issues if VDC is off. Now it does, and that isn't relevant??

I want to take the car on a circuit and drive it without electronic aids assisting - simple as that and that is what I have done with all my previous cars without any warranty issues ever being raised.

I do not intend to launch it but I want to drive, not a computer - simple.

Another thing, if VDC off is no warranty territory, why have the option on the switches as standard fit??

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...I am sure I am not the only one!

Agreed, this VDC thing has for me ( although no track God by any stretch) somewhat moved the goalposts. This was going to be the first time I'd tracked my own car (as opposed to other peoples!), and there's not a cat in hells chance I'd enjoy it if I had a nag in my mind about how much it might cost if I wanted to "drive " the car myself with no help from it. For a car whose sole marketing seems to be about its track prowess,it's frankly farcical. I must admit I had a completely open mind when I ordered, but some events have left a sour taste, like now finding that Bluetooth IS standard on the non-nav cars, so the extra cost is for the Sat-Nav only it appears. The saving grace is that I appear to have an excellent dealer.

I appreciate you including this question and supraman for raising it. Thank you.

If there is a switch which allows you to choose between VDC on or off, then you can do whatever you like on track.

If there is a switch that says: Warranty off, dont use it. Simple as that.

The VDC switch does not void the warranty, even if they would write that in the manual,im sure in germany that has no belonging,as if i cant do a launchcontroll start(as its simply not possible without LC),i cant do anything to the transmission.

Nissan cant even tell me not to drift the car,its my car,it is build/advertised as a sportscar with the goal racing around the ring as fast as it can.....Nissan has 3 years warranty and you cant break that warranty, whats hard to understand on the simple words: "three years warranty".

The transmission even has a security system against failures,if it get to hot,it tells you its to hot and you cant overheat it more,as it simply doesnt allow it...same on my evo X with SST,if it gets too hot,it is impossible to break it as you simply cant accelerate anymore

We are living in countrys with a lot of laws as a buyer protection too,a car company cant even tell me not to use any installed function.......thats the reason for Nissan to remove the LC im sure,if it would be installed,it would have to work 100%,which it cant as there is high abuse

But if something breaks, with VDC off, then the warranty "may" not cover it,which to me will always be in the back of my mind.I don't want big repair bills on a car that's under warranty, or battles to prove that a problem wasn't caused by VDC being off. It's quite likely at first this won't be an issue for me, but certainly when i'm used to the car it will be.

I don't know if I'm offended or insulted. I do not work for Nissan and have not even ordered a car. As a member of the GTR Owners Club I am trying to gather questions on behalf of members and also unpaid users of this forum to get some answers and are postng the answers here in complete honesty.

The AGM is this weekend. Thank you for your support I will resign my post at the weekend.

As a relatively new member I am appalled at aggression shown by some to others when they are simply try to express their view or offer assistance and I hope that Fuggles reconsiders and is then able to bring the minority to task. Everybody is entitled an opinion but to bully, aggress and generally shout down other users is, in my opinion, totally unacceptable.

John

Nobody is being aggressive or shouting, just expressing an opinion based on facts.

I, and many other potential R35 owners, are very grateful for all the info John has established this week - the fact that Nissan should be communicating all of it is another matter but lets not go there.

The issue I raised re VDC is a fundamental change, and for those that will use the car on a circuit, a very important one - I want full control over the car!!

All I am asking is that the question be put back to Nissan as I suggested above.

David

Sumo69 - I am not accussing any one person - all i am stating, having been on the receiving end myself, that some contributions are very harsh. I have no issue with being corrected over fact. I have no issue in questioning thoughts or opinions - what I do worry is the lengths that some (and this is not directed at you) users will go to so as to dominate - and when this is manifested by an unpaid officer of the club feeling they have to resign then surely something is wrong. I do not know Fuggles, have only been a member for a short time but can see that the role Fuggles fulfils is a thankless task and to then be driven to this situation is a reflection on us all.
